  1. I've searched a website called Outerzone plans can be downloaded free but no sign of the Consort **LINK**
  2. I've decided a model of this aircraft is do-able.looking at construction options and aerofoil sections full size wings use wortmann fx63-137 aerofoil section will check that out.likely to be balso liteply and carbon rods.canopy area detatchable for access to radio and batts
  3. thanks everyone for the info ,much clearer understanding now .
  4. Yes but no price and their retail sellers in hong kong don't stock it,besides that it's all fibreglass including the wings and comes in at 7lbs ,the span at 65inch is about right but 7lbs seems quite heavy
  5. Well just when you think you have found something unique, this aircraft has been made into a model by a Chinese manufactor called FlyFly..found an Australian build blog for a fibreglass 65inch plane auw supposed to be 3.2kg but he built it to 4.1kg .it seems fibreglass is not thhe way to go it would be to heavy and to fast..Ah well at least it's keeping me busy thinking
  6. An article in the online telegraph .Newly restored Spit with clipped wings joins the remaining few flying ones http://www.telegraph.co.uk/history/world-war-two/9828719/Spitfire-reaches-for-the-sky-again-60-years-on.html
  7. hope this OK to post on here if not apologies, I just found it amusing Edited By David Ashby - RCME on 29/01/2013 10:42:04
  8. yes Tim they do look pretty in fact the overall look of this plane is markedly different . here is a picture of another variant of this plane this time featuring the drooped tailets they are almost as long as the winglets the overall effect is similar to a F1 car with all the extra bits.Thoughts please
  9. I would be interested to open a discusion on winglets on both full size aircraft and models, winglets were first fitted on a light plane by Rutan on the Vari-eze although they were part of the integral design. Many light aircraft now use winglets as part of their design.I understand it improves reduction in parasitic drag along with a increased reduction in wingtip stall. only in the past few years have airliners adopted this design many being blended winglets. My interest came about as a result of studying the Diamond DA-42 as a model subject , but what got me intregued was the T Tail on some vairiants of this aircraft have drooped tailets apparantly they are not classed as winglets.so what do they do ? is it to increase tailplane area or perhaps longitude stability.loved to hear your views please.
  10. It reminded me in some strange way to a Rutan Quickie ,it does look really quite different to any thing else ,front profile is very pretty so to is side profile ,the winglets make a world of difference to it's overall looks as does the downward tips on the tailplane. Original is from an Austrian manufacturer and from composite materials first flew in 2004 I think, speed is around 200mph but has been purchased as an unmanned survelliance aircraft so is able to loiter. I'm wonderin g if a model could be made in a similar way with glass fibre with electric motor at around 60" span, real plane span is 44ft wing area 175ft2 length 28ft powered by 2 Austro turbo diesels . So is it a real model prospect I'd love to have a go
  11. Diamond Aircraft I believe they do it as a self build really pretty tho and line drawings are available
  12. try http://www.probuild-uk.co.uk http://www.motorsandrotors.co they are expensive £86 and £56 respectively   Edited By Martian on 25/01/2013 18:12:23

  14. I would stamp my feet and find a corner to cry in
  15. I'ts worth a look 20min long in depth examination of this very rare plane http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S6Hj_KcE7_M&feature=youtu.be
  16. How about this for an oldie The Complete Book of the Model Aeroplane by Norman G Taylor . covers from how an aeroplane flies to how to plot aerofoil sections and more but no RC models , had it for years maybe since aged 16 . The knowledge doesn't change to much but the presentation does
  17. B&Q do a heat gun with variable heat settings from 50deg up to 700 deg. £34 and pretty well balanced and nice to hold.
  18. Hi what about contacting Flightline or Horizen models Martin
  19. Hi Martin, at first glance it looks lovely and can't help but smile at the lavish love and paint it's had clearly the builder had no idea about building light. I have looked on Cambrian site and they relaunched this kit at £104.00 .The kit contains: Pre-cut ply and balsa parts. Pre-shaped leading edges, rear spars and ailerons. Veneered foam wing panels. A large one piece, moulded canopy, cockpit interior and moulded cowling. Pre-formed undercarriage, motor mount, control cables and all fittings and linkages. A full sized pan and instruction book. So I guess it all depends on the wings. I personally would cover with Solartex or Oracover which is stronger but heavier.. I would see it as a challenge to get it rebuilt and flying again, good luck on what you decide
