  1. I agree 100% with you Avtur, I neither saw anything negative in that thread and I am also disapointed that the thread has been closed for no apparent good reason being given. I doubt you will be put on any kind of a "hit list" as if you are I will surely be in the firing line also, by replying here. If anything does happen as a result then as far as I am concerned it is their loss mate. I love this place and I know rules are rules but I don't think they would jeopardise the loss of a good forumite who brings experience and good humour to these rooms over a decision to close a thread. Just my twopence worth. Sorry mods.......
  2. Posted by Phil Green on 23/08/2014 22:45:36: Students in the sarny shop who say "... can I get a (whatever).." I say "theres no need, the lady works here, she'll get it for you, its her job" I wish I'd never had read this Phil, Everyone it seems is using this be it in the shop/garage/supermarket and it just angers me so much !! already heard this twice today. Made me resurrect this thread.. GRRRRRRRR
  3. SWMBO and myself will be going at some time this year as we are only 35 miles from OW. Can anybody recommend the best full size meeting to attend ?
  4. Posted by kevin b on 30/01/2015 21:15:14: Posted by John Privett on 30/01/2015 21:06:40: Well it's obvious Kevin. It's an "areoplane motor"! It says so in the title... Now, anyone know what an "areoplane" is? Caractacus: A flyer in an air-e-o-plane Chorus: He steers it with a stick Is what Caractacus Potts says it is in "The 'Ol Bamboo" I knew I'd heard that before
  5. Hi Keith, There is a plans exchange/swap thread here **LINK** and if there's anything in particular you are after someone here maybe able to help. Alan.
  6. For what it's worth and not modeling related. We had a bright, shiny, black vinyl floor layed recently in the kitchen. OK, swmbo is in a wheelchair these days but she was attempting to unload the dishwasher. One of the ceramic knives slipped from her hand and cut an inch and a half gash in the new floor. (right in the middle) not a word was said, Had that of been me I would not have heard the last of it and I am not allowed to mention it, Its true what they say - Men are from Mars and women are definitly from Venus.
  7. **LINK** is a good and easy to use free to use utility for burning CD's. Note the free version will only burn CD's.
  8. No problem Chris, This is a great place to exchange our wealth of knowledge !
  9. Another tool that may be useful is the Hirens's boot CD **LINK** found here. As previously mentioned it will involve writing the image to a CD on another pc/laptop. These utilities also include various hard drive diagnostics and a pre installed "virtual" copy of windows XP that will let you look at your hard drive and pull off what you need to. If you do choose to go down this route you will need to make changes to the BIOS to tell the system to boot from an alternate source. Hope this helps. 10. If its a solid state drive (ssd) there would'nt have been a head strike ! I don't think its an easy task getting at the hard disk/SSD on these laptops if my memory serves me right. As paul says try safe mode and see if it will let you create a backup on an external hard disk.
  11. Hi Robert, Does it do the same thing in safe mode ? You enter safe mode by hitting F8 before it boots and select safe mode with networking. Do that and let us know what happens. Alan
  12. Just seen a TV ad for this printer and then found the website. **LINK** Could be useful if you can't afford to shell on one in one hit !
  13. A Latin phrase meaning beneath someone’s dignity.
  14. Posted by Pete B - Moderator on 01/01/2015 21:42:49: Have you tried WH Smith? Pete I couldn't, they wasn't open today
  15. A very valid point C-J, but the freezers were full of ice cream and chips. Even if there had been a pack of yorky puds in the freezer I wouldn't have touched them with a barge pole as I try to avoid frozen at all costs. The point is they are not carrying staples anymore.... ah well. back to Asda next week !! Happy new year all !!!         Edited By FastFlyer Smyth on 01/01/2015 21:11:31
  16. Today I wanted to cook a yorkshire pudding with my roast beef, I checked the cupboard and found I had neither yorkshire pudding mix (which I know is cheating !) or a bag of plain flour. I walked me and the dog 3/4 mile to my local Tesco express only to find they were no longer carrying either item !. The shelves are now filled with foreign items of which I neither know what they are or they are marked in some language which I cannot understand. I know we have to provide for everyone in this modern day multiracial society but come on, No plain flour or yorky pudding mix ? Disgraceful !!
  17. Bloomin' 'eck ! I must have had a preminition. 5 minutes before logging on I was wondering to myself what would be your next masterpiece Peter, Looks great. Spooky though !!
  18. Hi Nelmo, Not sure how long you've been on the forum but welcome, You've set alarm bells ring here already lol. Scewing servos's directly into balsa without grommets and brass inserts ? My suggestion is that you stop your build and have a thorough read of the kit build instructions/manual. What kit is it ? Servo's should be mounted onto their own mounting rails or bearers either made of ply of some other such denser material set into the balsa substructure with suitable adheseive. There are many excellent build blogs here with photo's that are worthy or a peruse before you commense any further as this sounds like a disaster waiting to happen.   Regards   Alan Edited By FastFlyer Smyth on 21/10/2014 14:07:36
  19. No Dave, The original poster made a typo, It should read "Ben Dingwood" you know, that bloke in Eastenders.
  20. I thinks its probably quite an easy fix mate, possibly a corrupt registry key. If at any point you can get remote assist working on your pc and get it connected to the internet I'd be pleased to log in and have a quick butchers for you. Alan
