  1. Hi folks Anyone out there done the electric conversion on the Turbo Raven. The intructions are not much help. No mention is made of the position of the motor mount. Are the holes in the firewall and the electric mount suposed to line up or is the electric mount meant to be central on the firewall. I dont want to built it and find out that spinner is off center. Also the instructions say to epoxy the mount onto the fire wall with supporting triangle strips. Is this strong enough. Thanks and sorry for the lack question marks for some reason that key is not playing and sorry for the typo in the title Seagull not segull JC Edited By JC on 18/06/2014 16:51:51
  2. Easy mistake to make. I nearly lost a couple fingers once because even though I had put the model in the restraint I had not checked that the tail was up against it. It leapt forward on starting and I just got my hand out of the way in time. I hope you can repair the model. JC
  3. Thanks John, Martin. I will have a look at the spam filtering thing as I have tried using my tablet and PC. I have used GS since the name change but a good point. JC
  4. Thanks guys I will have a look at the settings on my PC and tablet. I have not changed anything on my PC since I last ordered from GS but who knows with computers. If not I will just ring them up Thank again JC
  5. Hi folks I have been away from the hobby this year for various reasons. When I tried to place an order with my favourite online retailer about two weeks ago (GS) I could not log on. Not a problem, I requested a password reset but no email was sent to me. After a couple of tries I used the contact form on their site but have still not received a reply. Is anyone else having a problem or are the guys at GS just taking a long holiday. I have always enjoyed great service from GS. JC

Change the plug. The ones supplied are not normally very good. I had an SC70 FS that I could not get to run for love or money. After several weeks of fiddling with both needles checking and rechecking the fuel lines someone at the patch said 'have you tried a new plug?'. It then started first time and is now my most reliable engine by far.

    Hanger 9 P47

You will need some tail dragger experience first but in the air mine flies like a trainer. Take off and landing are not so easy. Not an ideal first tail dragger. A Black Horse Travel Air would make a nice model to continue learning on. The H9 P47 is a lovely model to fly. It has real presence in the air.

    Oil in Exhaust

Yes. The tube from the silencer to the tank pressurises the tank helping to ensure that the fuel flows into the engine at all attitudes. The system has been in use for many years. As previously mentioned the oil used to lubricate the engine comes from the fuel so feeding some of it back from the exhaust can only be a good thing. That said there is no such thing as a stupid question only stupid answers. We only learn by asking questions. I should know. Keep the questions coming. JC
  9. I know how you feel Greg. I never used to fly if there was anything above a slight breeze. The fact is that a bit of wind or even a strong breeze is a definite advantage. Particularly when landing as your air speed can be kept up while your ground speed (landing speed) is slowed down. The wind is your friend, as long as you take off and land into it you will be surprised how much wind a model can take. I used to fear it but not anymore. Particularly as my landing skills are still truly terrible. Don't give up. JC
  10. Hi I use Orange rx on Futaba FASST and Spektrum radios. Never had a problem. The savings made when compared to original rx are enormous. I would just mention that I also use FRSky Futaba FASSTcompatible rx from GS and these also have never let me down. JC

    elevon mix

Thanks folks I had tried reversing the servos but reversing only the elevator did the trick. Seems a bit strange but everything now moves as it should. Thanks for the replies JC

    elevon mix

Hi folks I,m new to Spektrum and I,m having trouble with my flying wing set up. I have turned on the elevon function and conected the servos to the aileron and elevator channels on the rx but the aileron stick movement moves the servos in elevator mode and the elevaor stick movement moves the servos in aileron mode. Any ideas on what I'm doing wrong. Cheers JC

    Negative differential

Thanks Simon. No there is no diagram just instructions to set the throws to plus 8 and minus 11. Minus 11 seems a bit much to me. The Fun Jet is quick and I think it will only need very small movements of the control surfaces or it would be all but unflyable. Cheers
