  1. hello Willhappy Erm...(hides head in shame and embarrassment) Yup, mine is still in the box, also. Trouble is, I keep crashing my favourite, the Radian glider. On my third new fuze now. Applied strengthening (skewers, c/f rod etc) so maybe it'll stay in one piece for a while while I have a go at the Bug Cheers
  2. I'm in two minds for the Hurricane: see it finished and flying, or preserve it as an exhibit but I think I come down in favour of Exhibit. Being an Australian and somewhat old, I'm unable to visit it in a museum or somesuch, unfortunately, whereas I would have seen it on Utube, no doubt, but I'd hate to see it totalled.. So, yes, preserve it, I say. I must say the blog has been so fascinating that I, and many others, are so sad for Paul and the thought of no more build blog Rex
  3. Brian, hi from Australia Belville Washers are not the same as countersink cups. Belvilles are a um er a flattened cone, for want of a better description, intended to act as a type of spring-washer, whereas countersink cups are used on surfaces which can't be countersunk into the material (e.g. the cardboard stuff used in some car trim . My old MGBGT had 'em all over the place) Cheers p.s lovely work Rex
  4. Greetings from Australia, too Too hot for me to be flying today in Melbourne, high 30s. My Xmas prezzie is a subscription to.... guess what...RCM&E. Rex
  5. Great film but the Radian seems to have succumbed to the Danny Rivet Syndrome. Otherwise, is this a new form of psoriasis ???????????????
  6. Hey! Good to see the King of Depron back on the posts, Sir
  7. Ouch !!! We don't think about dangerous wildlife over there. Here, it's kangaroos or feral teenagers. Good to hear you're not hurt. I was tempted, but I'll stay away from stag party jokes...... I hope your insurance company is sympathetic. Rex
  8. Not really a good career move.................
  9. Hi Mr Mowerman (related to the Lawn Ranger??) Sorry my last post sounded rather dismissive of your very interesting reply. As I said, I bought the kit as much to test my (probably non-existent) building skills as much as anything (and it was cheap). Do you think the wing is rubbish? I see you changed the motor at the same time as the wing; Did you try the old wing with the new motor at all?? Ta for your help Rex
  10. Thanks Percy "doh', as they say. I t has a 40" span and weighed 19 ozzes, as they used to say. I found it by gargling Graham MaCallister designs, a bloke who moved from the UK to USA a few yrs ago. His site(s) are still extant. I bought the kit from a local (Melbourne Aus) rc site, not from a retailer. Info ?,not a lot.. Cheers Rex P.S Sorry to see the Hunter crash. Awful.
  11. Found this elderly Graham McAllister design.( I think the design is elderly. Don't know about Mr McA.) for sale as a limited kit; i.e. foam wing, depron tail assembly, snakes and servo wires plus plan and comprehensive instructions. The owner also included the recommended Graupner -type Speed 400 brushed motor, however I intend to fit brushless system and therein is my problem: what ESC, outrunner and prop should I use ?? This will be my first build for 60+ years and is within my doddery skill level..... any advice gratefully received.
  12. Thanks to all re Australia Day. Do you lot often cringe at the antics of your politicians? One of ours whose party actually got my vote also earns a Daily Cringe. He is notable for having a very large mouth. To accommodate both feet. I much prefer aeroplanes Cheers rex Edited By Rex Dyer on 27/01/2015 05:44:14
  13. Must've missed it somewhere but what is the span of the free plan version? I'm keen to build one around 48" as my first build in about 65 years. Now where did I put that balsa plane and the stripper (er. the balsa one). This'll be electric; any recommendations for the power setup? Been reading avidly the original build comments arising from the 2010 free plan. Great stuff. Expect mine will be a Great Stuff Up Ta in advance Rex
  14. Maybe someone 3D prints engine detail? You'd think radials would be an ideal subject for it, with weight variable according to the density of the medium used. I dunno what sort of cost would be involved, though. Rex
