  1. Hornet photo below, made from B&Q insulation foam, strengthened leading edge with balsa and carbon spar in wing, flys superb. Plans from outer zone.
  2. Geoff, I am making a square 4 pack, 70 x 42 approx, soldering copper strips 6 x 1.5 mm with an 100watt iron, don’t want battery getting hot, and a friend is making some 3d printed end caps. I purchased 8 batteries at £61, from Cell Supply, they have two sites one for commercial and one for private buyers, you are correct it’s £41 about for four from the private site. Minimum order of £50 from the commercial site. Also adding a balance lead so charging will be same as for a li Po, as per the videos.
  3. I have witnessed a person flying these packs and it was he who generated my interest, I then checked the video which supported what I had witnessed. I agree re the CofG, extra weight may be required. In my case I use two 4s 2200, at £35 each so a cost saving can be made as I will only require one at 4500mah, and extra time is a bonus hoping for a win win. A 4500mah lipo will not fit into my plane due to the length.
  4. Just purchased some, planning to make up a 4s, 4500mah, to replace two 4s 2200, that I use in a Maricado. Hoping for a little less weight in the plane and a longer flight time, as they can be run down to 2.9 Volts, unlike Li Po at 3.8.
  5. Martin Thanks for your advice at the show on Saturday, very informative. Phil
  6. Phil, could you upload some more pics please, I think I have purchased your model and any advice on flying it or set up would be appreciated. Regards Phil C
  7. Peter Great topic, could you advise contact details for your pilot supplier please. Regards Phil
  8. My previous advice was given to me by an expert builder in our club, he builds a lot with tissue on flat balsa. To get a harder finish over tissue he uses 50-50 non shrinking v shrinking dope. I have used the HK film from Rapid RC it’s very good, have not had to use a coating of any sort over my previous flat balsa build the HK covering gave me a good protective finish. Another option for ding protection is coating with Poly C, agin from RC. I am currently covering a Cambara Spit using 1/3 mix as an undercoat and then applying tissue on the smooth finish and then polyC to give a harder finish, I then spray. Good luck.
  9. I use 1/3 paint thinner “gun wash” 1/3 non shrinking dope and 1/3 talcum powder, brings up a very nice smooth finish to then apply your finishing material.
  10. Geoff Your logo sheet is great but I am having trouble finding the exact logo positions and the words for the first aid and ballast box on the side of the fuse, also any other words used eg the fuel detail on the top of the fuse large. Any help greatly appreciated
