Can be converted to 2.4gHz still using the original encoder part of the PCB. Or, can be totally replaced with another encoder + 2.4gHz 'hack' module. It all depends on whether you want to use the set for the 'retro' look/feel and are happy with the feel of the sticks. If you have more modern Tx with better sticks and are not into the retro scene then it's probably better to pass it on to some one else. Mode Zero is a site, amongst others, that deals with conversions and other retro RC. Give it a look to see the conversions/various encoders and if that dose not appeal then I'm sure you'll find a buyer there. Home site , open 2.4 conversion tab to see some past examples. There's a thread on the Barton forum about this and near the end mentions that Southern Modelcraft will also be ceasing trading next year. Add to this glow fuel issue potential supply problems with Lipo's, etc and electric motors(materials being redirected to cars) and the reduced availability of petrol if the electric car push takes off. Knew this was coming, removal of exchanges and fibre to home, when I had an 'OpenReach tech come and fix the copper u/g line to my home some time back. As an aside I started with the GPO in 1964 and Strowger exchanges, copper OH lines were the thing and the 'core network' was 5mHz FDM and valve amplifiers. Ended in 1996 having been involved with TXE 2/4 and AXE10 exchanges and sub sea cable both copper CO-AX analogue and FSK digital and fibre optic sub sea cable along with the initial fibre to the home and video on demand plus a multitude of other things in between. We've somewhat pre emptied this by using my wife's mobile as our home phone and NOT as a mobile as it's cheaper for calls than the ISP call package. I've given up the mobile I had as I never used it. I can't see this being cheaper as the VOIP part requires an additional provision of some form of translation of telephone number to IP number central service which may or may not be provided by the ISP. There are some security issues along with 'track and trace' that come with VOIP, smart phones, 'smart speaker' and TV's, etc due to the fact that even when switch off 'smart phones' are never completely off. This may or may not bother you but I feel it's as well to be aware, rather than live in ignorance, of just how much you are monitored and data about ALL aspects of your life are collected, stored and analysed before making a decision as to whether you personally find it acceptable. You may already know this but there is a lot of similarity between some of the Bowmans kits and the Galaxy models kits of the same era. Specifically the Bowmans Simple Skyman and the Galaxy models Escort. In fact there was a legal battle over copyright which Galaxy lost. Flow both in the past as 3ch and 4ch models and couldn't tell the difference. Got the Galaxy models Escort plan stashed away somewhere and an almost complete Escort GT, a version that had a semi symmetrical built up wing for 0.40cu in motors.

What an interesting read. I'll agree that the hobby has been dying/dead for some of the time I've been in it - 65 years approx. From my viewpoint it's only the last 20 to 30 years that I've been aware of such an attitude. From a free and easy activity with little to no restrictions it has now changed to one with a 238 page document (CAP722) governing ones activities. This, no matter what some may think and say, is a 'put off'. But, on the other side of the coin is the cheapness and almost certain success of current equipment. The main fly in the ointment at the moment and possibly going forward is not CAA regulation, remote ID, flying sites, cost of models, training or clubs, etc. IMO it is the new never ending and indeterminate policy of 'lockdown' along with the significant and substantial financial/economic consequences that are yet to fully manifest themselves.. We're now into the second year of what was 'just 3 weeks to flatten the curve' with as far as I can see no end in sight of more and more successive and longer lockdowns. The frustration factor when some one has invested time and money to engage in an activity just to have it removed at short notice for an indeterminate time will soon have people give up and leave or never start. Add to this the fact that many in the future will be struggling to feed themselves and pay the bills with no time or money to use in what is a discretionary activity. Given a sufficient gap in people(new and existing) taking part in the hobby it is not difficult to see that at a local level club membership could easily fall below critical mass and clubs become non viable. this situation could easily take a downward spiral locally and nationally. I myself took the decision not to re join BMFA or club until I saw the state of things after the current lockdown, which was extended whilst running. I now see the government have, by dictate, extended their ability to continue the lockdown to 17th July and I hear rumours that they want to go to September.

It's as it says in my link and as confirmed by Steve J. No recording on plane, ie no 'go-pro' types and no recording of video by goggles means no registration of sub 250 with live FPV. The FPV video is only used to guide and monitor the planes flight and not 'capture'(record and store) data. That's clear enough surely. There is a wrinkle here that perhaps has not been considered and I will not mention or give any clues.

This issue of sub 250gm with cameras was taken up with the CAA by Simon Dale of FPVUK. He requested a definitive answer to the clause using the word 'capture' and the CAA understanding and definition of the word. In brief if there is no recording of the images and the camera is used solely for the controlling and monitoring of the aircraft then it's allowable. Before I leave those in Wales can look forward to credit card size proof of vaccine which I guess will control ones abilities to do many things, maybe even buy food. As Henry Kissinger said "control the oil and you control the country. control the food and you control the people" Welsh government written statement Para 12. The last para says it will not be mandatory. But, no doubt private business's will be asking for proof of vaccination before they deal with you/let you in, maybe even super markets, who knows! Well it's obvious that some did not even bother to fully listen/watch the video and then went on to quote the WHO propaganda. For a death to be classified 'covid' you have to have tested positive in the past 28 days, your corpse tests positive or 'covid' is mention somewhere in the medical notes. You can fall off a building, drown or even be run over by a steam roller and be classed as a 'covid' death if the bizarre criteria are met. There have been cases where people have died in accidents but the accident insurance will not pay out because they have been classified a 'covid' death. The PCR test goes on to support and magnify this false data. It is not 'covid' specific and responds to all corona virus genetic material, partial or even inactive. The cycle count used to boost up the genetic material under test should be limited to no more than 35 for any degree of confidence in the result. Many labs here, on the continent and in the USA use up to 45. The man who developed the test is on video record saying the test should NOT be used for screening but only as a diagnostic aid in patients that are displaying symptoms. The PCR test is grossly inaccurate giving many false positives. Information abounds on this if you care to investigate. From this it can easily be seen that the whole crisis is a pack of cards built on foundations of sand. Don't misunderstand me, I am not denying 'covid' or in any way making light of the very real tragedy of those who have died. But, there has been and continues to be a massive and contrived over exaggeration of the death rate and infection rate via the death criteria and inappropriate use of an inaccurate test. Is it coincidence that deaths from other causes fell dramatically as 'covid' deaths rose, flu especially? This false data has been used to drive the rhetoric that has led to the actions taken. Actions that to my mind and those of many serious scientists and data analysts appear to have more to do with people and population control than disease control. I could post links but as I've found in the past people now just 'believe' as if it's become some sort of religion. No one ever called for vaccination certificates, or even thought about such things, in the past to allow you to access/use UK facilities for diseases:- Flu (10,000 's excess deaths every winter) Winter Flu Deaths, measles, mumps, hepatitis, meningitis, diphtheria, etc. All are endemic here along with many others. The true data about 'covid' does not justify such a measure. Nightingale in London only had 86 patients in total. My local hospital sent nurses home on full pay back in the first 'house arrest' period because they had nothing to do. NHS staff shortages - mainly due to use of inaccurate PCR test giving false positives causing many, and those they may have been in contact with, to self isolate. In recent weeks there was approx 70,000 off due to this. The Astra Zeneca vaccine much the same as the other two but uses mDNA (messenger DNA). No one is messing with my DNA using a very new technology on the back of such a week reason as 'covid'. But, 12 - 15 months back if I'd have said to you next year people will willingly agree to be subjected to house arrest for 12 weeks and then for further periods, agree to not travel where they want when they want, to not associate with who they want when they want even in their own home, would not be allow to cross county boundaries(Wales) with police camera vans checking, have police chiefs state they will be checking peoples shopping baskets at supper markets to make sure they have only purchased essential items, have police rigorously enforce no entry onto the beach even in non tourist location where I am, have police drones follow walkers in the peaks, people would be convinced to wear ineffective pieces of cloth across their face in the mistaken belief that they would stop the virus, have another police chief state he would force entry into homes at Christmas if he had information the 'allowed' numbers were being exceeded, be told that pubs and restaurants can only stay open until 18:00hrs and only serve non alcoholic drinks(the virus can tell the time and if your drinking alcohol??), etc. The list goes on and on. Well guess what it would not have been a conspiracy theory although it sure would have sounded like a paranoid conspiracy theory. But, people are easily convinced by officialdom. The main thing I can suggest is don't voluntarily sit down in front of the psychological condition equipment, the TV and soak up all the fearmongering propaganda push out at you. I've not watch broadcast TV for some time. Disparaging condemnation coming my way in lorry loads no doubt.

Unfortunately, I suspect the government will play sneaky. It'll be voluntary and 'they' will not use coercion. Compulsion and coercion would mean they fall foul of the Nuremburg Code. But, behind the scenes I think they may persuade employers, shops, theatres, stadiums, airlines, hotels, etc to require this vaccine/health passport. Thus, private companies would be using coercion and I don't believe they fall under the remit of the Nuremburg Code (glad to be corrected if I'm wrong).

Gary, don't know much about that one but will investigate fully when imminent for deployment. But, since I was made very ill, 18 months under the chest dept of the hospital, by a flu jab I had in late 2014 I'm very cagey about any vaccine. I've never had another flu jab nor do I ever intend to. Unfortunately I have NO faith in the medical profession anymore as they have nearly killed me 4 times in the past 15 years and I do not exaggerate. As an additional bit of info there was many children in India crippled by a polio vaccine program this century. I'll try to get a link. Stu, disparaging remarks do not make legitimate argument. I'm not an 'anti-vaxxer'. But, I am anti this new vaccine for the reasons set out in my explanatory post.

JD8 Don't play to my emotions, give me facts and information. But past vaccines used de-activated or greatly weakened versions of the original pathogen to stimulate ones own immune system causing T cells to manufacture anti-bodies. This though is only half the story as the T cells etc 'remember' the code for the invading pathogen, for use in any future infection, as the original anti bodies slowly decay. None of the older vaccines is totally safe or effective. There are many recorded incidents of people being injured/damaged from vaccines, it's a cost benefit judgement. IIRC in recent times a small pox outbreak was caused by vaccination. This new technology vaccine uses messenger RNA (mRNA) to carry a genetic message to our own cells DNA. The cells then manufacture not anti-bodies but the 'spike protein' on the invading pathogens cell surface which then cause the T cells etc to generate anti-bodies. This new technology has NEVER been used before and even the manufacturer states they have NO long term data as to the safety of the vaccine. Once it's in your body it can't be taken out. It's a one way street!

I have no intention of having it ever. From official stats there is a 99% recovery and for some one like me, a 73 year old diabetic, it's 95%. If and it's a big if I put my position in writing, as it is still voluntary, and got a written guarantee from the BMFA and club that they would refund all my money in the event of a change of rules that would require me to take the vaccine to continue to use the field(coercion) then I may consider it.
