  2. I buy a packet of holes and stick them on to the balsa. Job done.
  3. I had a glider motor catch fire on the climb yesterday. Looked quite spectacular trailing smoke out behind. Some wag asked if it was a Dreamliner.
  4. As the old saying goes. If all else fails, read the Instructions. 14SG lover.
  5. well i like it and i am still using crayons in everyday life.
  6. Percy, The first Irvine 40 had a one piece crankshaft. The Mk2 had the detachable stud.
  7. To confuse the issue some Irvine engines are being produced in China for developing markets where SC and other cheaper engines at present dominate. These developing markets are where no model shops exist but the internet is now covering potential demand. OS are also producing the AX 55 in China and the rest of the AX range are to be produced there.
  8. It's dead easy, do as Matin says, the skill is stopping the plane doing one and a half rolls.
  9. Posted by Phil Cooke on 17/06/2013 16:30:13: BTW whilst I'm here I should say I travelled Sunday too, with my 3yr old son, a good flying buddy of mine and his 6 yr old daughter - we had a great day out, we all really enjoyed it. The flying display was superb, a nice mix of models and flyers, the amount of trade stalls and their lay out was good, and the non flying entertainment for the family was pretty good too (something Ive never really had to consider at a show before my son arrived!) This might sound petty, but my only criticism was the loos, not for me specifically, but for my 3 yr old lad, whos still 'learning the ropes' so to speak. We visited twice during the day, both times they were very dirty, no TP or paper towels and no running water = parental nightmare!! Just a suggestion to make a great show even better Mr Holland - but couldn't we hire portaloos with those self pump water taps next time please - and manage them correctly through the day!? Other than that - a top event and a great day out - see you again next year! Edited By Phil Cooke on 17/06/2013 16:45:05 Hi Phil, Next time if you wander up to the Big House you will find the most beautiful toilets. But keep it a secret, we don't want everyone to know.
  10. it's called a plateau, a quite harmless mental condition.
  11. I hope you ask permission before photographing peoples houses, people are getting funny about such activities.
  12. Best to burn her today. Then you wont have the guilt of crashing her on the next outing. If you should sell her, think of the misery you will heap opon yourself should the buyer terminate her on the first flight.
  13. All aero modelling is boring, some parts are more boring than others. All depends on your point of view.
  14. I have one or two big tail draggers with coil springs on the tail wheel stem, where does the science come in on this application.
  15. thank you David, you learn something new every day.
  16. these tracks are called tram lines in the agricultural community.
  17. ???????????????? whatever is a pressure guard?
  18. Multiplex Easy Star or Hobbyking Bixler, both 100% perfect for the job, stable and quite crash resistant. Vintage models are not designed for the Beginner, you w[ll soon end up with a pile of firewood.
  19. And in many other RAF aircraft hangers. A missing split pin is more dangerous than the sword.
  20. Steve Webb's is a dangerous place, it's very difficult to escape without a load of boxes.
  21. My DLE 30 runs on 30 to 1. It says use ordinary two stroke oil but don't mix brands as they may react and block the carb. Dosn't mention synthetic.
  22. The early Fleet servos and the stick units, were made by Skyleader Radio Control, you will find the SRC logo on them. Later ones were badged Sanwa, even later ones were badged Hitec. I bought one of their very first dedicated Heli sets complete with a Sanyo made Giro, this had two large heavy spinning wheels driven by it's own four cell nicad. This unit gave more vibration than the engine, but it did work. I've stil got it to this day, still in working order,
  23. Solent Sailplanes marketed the Ridge Rover, It was also sold by the designer Mike Trewe as the Countryman. There was also the Ridge Rider which was smaller.
  24. So far I have had no problem with the supplied 14SG instruction manual, dialing in multiple mixes, like servo slows on butterfly etc, easy peasy. I have a 10C set which is much the same. However a problem arose when I decided to check on the book you are talking about, to see if I had missed anything. My problem is, I can't find out how to download the Kindle app to my PC. All I get is a list of my buying history with Amazon marketplace.
