  1. Has anyone tried using hotglue. I have used this on depron as shown on the flitetest website.I am also pondering its use for wings. The foamboard from hobbyycraft can be used as depron substitute however its density isnt always uniform and a lower temp hotglue is advisable.
  2. I believe that GLIDERS in Newark are still doing online orders. I have always found them very friendly. They have a web site so give it a go
  3. First of all this is NOT a rant about Overlander, I use and will continue to use this company’s products. My moan concerns the Charge Tracker app which you can use for your battery charger. Please explain why a simple program designed to aid me in my battery maintenance requires access to my camera, location, storage, and phone. (This is just one of many apps that adopt this position.) Actually don’t I already know the answer and refuse to play. Hence app deleted. I would be happy to buy this product to stop it having this access. The same for cookies and privacy. When the EU declared a notice be shown on all websites the original option was a yes or no question and access was granted regardless of the answer. Now you have to accept or refer to the laughably called ‘Privacy Policy’ where you are subjected to reams of ‘legalise’, and even then no guarantee as the ‘third party’ caveat is sprinkled throughout. Most give up and accept. Makes you weep.
  4. I am doing my best to follow the Government guidelines, however hand sanitiser is rarer than a brothel for eunuchs. It occurred to me that as it is alcohol based a substitute was required so I am now using whiskey, gin or vodka. This is all very well but singing two verses of Happy Birthday whilst washing your hands in said spirits causes its own problem as in true tradition one drinks a toast at the conclusion of the song. I found myself annoyed after getting a newspaper, wash hands after opening door, wash hands after picking up paper, wash hands after paying for same, wash hands after opening door to leave. Then return to shop to get throat sweets after all that bloody singing, and then repeat hand washing. A 5 minute trip to the shop ends as a 15minute stagger home. I now find I am getting drunk in no time by following the advice to continually wash ones hands. This is made worse if you physically sing rather than mime as people close by tend to join in. This is okay but you find yourself passing the bottle to those who have joined in the celebratory singing and subsequent toast. This only compounds the problem as on returning the bottle, as others having touched you have to start the hand washing again, thereby repeating the exercise. This explains while I and 2 complete strangers were pissed outside the Post Office. Does anyone know another song!! Edited By David Ashby - Moderator on 18/03/2020 14:46:27
  5. The article by WREN contains some inaccuracies, the transmission has not proven to be airborne, (if it had the number of infections by now would be very high. The use of an image of a tent at the ear of a hospital, yes it was an isolation pod, however my local hospital has a number of well appointed porta cabins. Presently there have been no reported deaths of those without an underlying condition. AND if you read the article go to read the responses as well. Yes we will be having a number of infections and a number of deaths but some perspective is required.
  6. I have the above model complete with TX, have followed the instructions and had it bind once but refused to do anything. Think I failed to arm the motors. The damn thing wont bind now. Anyone have any ideas?
  7. Perhaps a properly worded letter from the BMFA once more addressing the flaws in the system on behalf of its members. Alternatively why not see if we can delay the outcome via the Courts by challenging the misrepresentation of the evidence. I see we still have no actual footage of the Gatwick drone....
  8. Is it possible to charge a completely discharged LiFe battery. Brand new and left it hooked up to rx. No sign of life now
  9. Is anyone else having trouble getting BMFA hosted website to work on their mobile. Up and till a couple of months ago our club site was working using my mobile. On wi fi it works no problem but mobile data it cannot even find the site. From enquiries with club members it appears that the only problem is on the EE network. Enquiries with them maintain it is a problem with the host end. Any other people out there having trouble accessing BMFA hosted site having the same trouble.
  10. I have used a metal washer under the screw head, on both occasions the bolts have come clean away. However I do not use them again as the threads get damaged. The off white ones are those I use. Should they shear inside a hot pointed screwdriver tends to get them out.
  11. Gliders at Newark. Great shop great service. No I am not the owner just a satisfied customer
  12. Almost ready to maiden, first time airliner and EDF flyer. Anyone have any control throw specs as the (limited) manual only gives CoG.
  13. May not work for everyone but have lost the undercarriage plate ue to long grass or ahem, nearly perfect landings. I have found using nylon screws/bolts is a good solution as this pull out leaving everything else intact. Just replace them with new ones.
  14. SCRCAC have a limited number of spaces for membership of turbine model flyers. Look at www.scrcac.bmfa.org
  15. It is the Hangar 9 Mustang and it gives the AS3 X tx settings, however this does not give the actual surface setups. Hey ho
  16. I will see if i have tbe add on page at the end Chiz
  17. Thanks Alan, I have the manual and couldn't find anything in there re control surface parameters, it has the tx setup for the AS3 X and details for engine setup. All very useful I guess it will have to be a gentle maiden flight and easy on the controls....
  18. Hello folks (Harry Secombe anyone), I have the Hangar 9 P51 10cc and am looking for control surface setup if anyone can help. Chiz
  19. Flight Mode query Hi folks. I have an ASX 3 rx and all six chanels are in use. ( flaps and u/c). Can i still assign and use a switch for program mode or do i need a spare chanel? Chiz Mick
  20. Sutton Coldfield Radio Control Aero Club has been around for well over 60yrs. Currently the club uses its Fradley site which has both tarmac and grass runways and caters for fixed wing and multi rotor advocates. Due to HS 2 the club are having to relocate and have secured a site at Hademore near Lichfield. It is a grass runway with space for both disciplines. It is hoped that a new cub hut and toilet block will be up and running in the near future certainly in time for the funfly later this year. The club is open to new members so please look us up http://www.scrcac.bmfa.org
  21. Well we have just signed the lease for our new site. So currently we have two locations to fly from. http://www.scrcac.bmfa.org for more info. RE HS2 I was recently chatting with a local farmer, apparently he and one or two others are still owed money by HS 2 I am surprised they haven't grouped together to take a 'class action' through the Court. I have also been told, though have no veracity concerning the source, that the Treasury have let it be known there isn't funding for the project and is unlikely to be so until 2030
  22. I have a Unique T6 Texan also known as a PC 9. The limited photo instructions do not give information on the c of g. Using the appropriate formulae c of g works out at 80 -85 mm from leading edge. You tube, font of knowledge, (cess pool of idiocy) has a coupe of videos. One shows removal of epo inside cockpit to house lipo. I am not a great fan of removing material which may damage structural integrity. I have placed my weight at the rear of the aircraft under the tail. I removed part of the moulded skid and placed the weight at that site some 130grms !. That just about gets it right. A flying colleague has the same model and he too has some 5oz at the rear. The aircraft flies well on that weight, I have yet to maiden mine. Have any of you had to sort the c of g for this plane.
  23. The Scotland France was great. The were more French in Kilts than the natives. Good result for Scotland. Hope they turn up to give a better game against England than last year. Figure they must have left their team on the coach. Looking forward to a full blooded game.
