  1. Admittedly I am now on my iMac but search appears to now work ( as noted by Gary) and it is not case sensitive and picks out an exact phrase ( inside quotes) if you want it . Excellent . Give it a bit of time guys and the bugs will get sorted. Tim
  2. On the good side, the email notifications from the site now arrive in my in box rather than junk mail as they did on the old site. getting quite a few from this thread funnily enough ! Tim
  3. I was getting on quite well exploring the search option and had tried various types of searches , probably > 20 when it refused to undertake another search, just kept the previous results. Bit odd. Tim
  4. Only slightly off topic, sorry Chris (But it is about another twin). Ron , did you get your Laser powered ESM Tigercat sorted to your satisfaction. I seem to remember some engine tuning issues last I saw. Tim
  5. Peter, Not sure about sensational but I certainly enjoyed myself messing around with your Grumpy Tigercub . After all my mods I refer to it as the Grumpy Tigercat ! Managed a few outings with it last year despite the lockdowns, really great fun to fly. Fun watching other folks build logs of the same basic model so I have been following this build , thanks Chris. Tim
  6. Endorse the comments above regarding varifocals , used for many years for everything but have a pair of strong reading glasses for close up work. For a long time I also had the Vari lux or self darkening lens. They used to cover all my flying needs and close encounters with the sun were not a problem. Last autumn however I had a couple of issues where I lost the model above the tree line in indifferent lighting . The model just faded from view ( and never returned!). Consulted with optician but could not find a specific eye problem. The optician suggested coloured filters as used by clay pigeon shooters as they can enhance the contrast in difficult lighting. Yellow (also for night driving) and bronze colours seemed favourite. If you get polarised versions the results are even better. Some of this coincided with my first slope soaring session in 25 Knt winds when the use of ski goggles seemed deregour. First benefit was stopping eyes running but as I found out when making use of my yellow tinted goggles , the increase in clarity was really noticeable, indeed for me amazing. I wore them over my now clear lens varifocals. So now for all types of flying I have a choice of coloured ,polarised clip ons as well. For really bright days I have a pair of dark prescription Polaroids and of course for the slope I still have the ski goggles. Long story but nothing is as straightforward as you think, particularly as your eyes get older it seems. Seems to have cured my disappearing model problem .... for now. Tim
  7. Levanter, Oodalally is certainly a slippery beast and I have considered retro fitting flaps but never got round to it. One thing for sure sacrificing some inboard aileron for flaps will not compromise the roll rate ( it is really fast) and I can guarantee you would not need to go the flapperon route. Tim
  8. I see you got your stars sorted in the end. Works well Tim
  9. Now that really would be useful as one of mine is fraying badly.
  10. Not seen anyone mention these on the Forum. They are a series of 1 hour presentations using Zoom on a range of aeromodeling Topics. First one was last night. It worked really well and personally I found the history and chronology of Aeromodeler magazine given by Andrew Boddington very interesting. Well done BMFA Tim Edited By Tim Ballinger on 02/12/2020 09:50:53
