  1. Hi Dick, Many thanks for your reply. Unfortunately I have diligently followed the kit instructions and the snake outer is now flush with the fuselage skin (see pic if I can attach it). Not sure it would now be possible to extend the outer snake now in a way that would truly provide any strength and avoid fouling the inside with glue? Rob
  2. Afternoon All, First off, big thanks to Ady and other builders on this thread - your expertise and willingness to share your knowledge on this forum has been invaluable to me as I plod through my build of the WR Spitfire. I have a fairly basic question - how has everybody attached the rear control surfaces to the inner snakes? I guess I could run the inner snake right up to the control horn but this seems to leave a lot of the flexible inner snake out of the fuselage and therefore unsupported by the outer snake. I can't quite see how others have dealt with this from trawling the pictures on here. Any thoughts would be much appreciated. Rob
  3. Really sad to hear this. I didnt know Dave apart from through his contributions to this forum but he seemed a clever and erudite guy who was passionate about RC flying. RIP Dave.
  4. Fantastic! I had pretty much everything crossed, hoping that it would be this model. Roll on March...
  5. Hi BEB, could I ask when there will be an announcement on which model has been chosen? I am very keen to take part in this and the suspense is killing me!
  6. Great, thanks for your answers Percy and Jon.
  7. Hi Jon, I have an old Laser 180V twin which I intend to put into a DB SE5A. What prop size would be appropriate for this engine please? Funnily enough I see the latest topic concerns the modern 180, would the prop size be the same for the twin? Cheers. Rob
  8. I’m a novice builder TJ and just completing a Warbird Replicas Spitfire kit. It is a comprehensive kit and builds into a beautiful model with a minimum of fuss. There are a few threads on this forum detailing the build to a very high standard. I’m not sure Richard Wills (of Warbird Replicas) is still trading but last I heard he had some Spitfire kits still available. May be worth emailing him through the WR website if you are interested in a scale build.
  9. Thanks Martian and David for the tips, I butchered the instrument panel in earlier, it was clearly oversized for the aircraft so it doesn’t look great now I have cut it down but hopefully will do when the cockpit is painted etc... Exhaust stacks next! BTW, David, your build also looks awesome.
  10. Thanks Martian, I will put mine together and post a pic of where I am at soon but believe me; yours is better than mine 😀. Cheers for info re the printed exhaust stacks - they have been bamboozling me a bit for some reason and I still may just play it safe and stick the ‘stock’ ones on the side but let’s see what the morning brings... Like what you have done with the cockpit too, Mick Reeves was kind enough to make me a special 1/8 version of his spitfire dash but I am having merry hell getting it to fit.
  11. I can only second what Andy said Martian. Could I ask how you got the exhausts on the cowl? Did you cut it or just stick them to the outside? Thanks, Rob
  12. Proctor Enterprises in the USA should fit the bill Mike. They are not cheap but he does a Camel and they seem to match what you have seen down to the spun metal cowl. They are actually flying models but I believe many people build them for static display. I have his Nieuport 11 sat in it’s box in my loft waiting for attention...
  13. Agreed regarding the need for the thread to be livened up Richard. I am going to start the 109 as soon as I have completed the WR Spitfire (looking like the year 2025 at the moment). I will even post my progress but given my current skill level it will probably be of most value as a ‘what not to do’ guide!
  14. Martian, can’t wait to see your build. I am currently in the middle of this one myself and being a novice builder I would really like to see how somebody with more experience goes about some of the aspects of this build.
  15. Well, including the Spitfire on there was slightly disingenuous as it is a work in very slow progress... only my second kit though and fitting it around the little ones, work and learning to fly RC is a challenge! Richard's business strategy of strangling supply to create demand certainly works on me!
  16. Go on then Richard, I will have one. The Spitfire, Hurricane and 110 are getting lonely all by themselves in my loft....
  17. Hi Geoff, I know that Richard produced a 'heavy duty' set of retracts for the 110. I kept meaning to ask him if these would be suitable for the Hurricane...
  18. Decisions decisions! If I can get a reasonable price on eBay for my Laser 70 then I would probably replace it with the Laser 80 as I really don't fancy the idea of the OS exhaust sticking out the cowl. On the other hand I already have the OS, don't have to do any mods and may be able to get away with the exhaust thing (thanks Donald). Laser is of course the preferred option - I guess I have a month or two to think about it!
  19. Thanks for that Jon. Hmmm, I have an OS fs81a that could go in but really wanted to use the laser for this kit. The reality is though that I probably won't be able to build it light enough or be a good enough pilot to fly it well if underpowered due to my 'newness' in this hobby! Time for a rethink maybe...
  20. Hi Jon, A few posts back you mentioned a mod required in order to fit a Laser engine. As I am planning on fitting a Laser 70 please could you furnish me with the details of this? Thanks. Rob
  21. Hi David, After exchanging some emails with Richard last night he pointed me in the direction of this thread. Sign me up! Also willing to pay a deposit if required. Rob
