Whilst I plan to build the NF this one takes my fancy, what with the ‘kin huge blaster under its nose.

It can take over! The cowl took about 15 minutes to design and then left the printer to print the draft one overnight (4 hours). I then redid it as I wanted it thinner so another 10 minutes to redraw then another print.

It’s one of those bits of kit that I wonder how I managed without it before! And it’s not just used for model bits, all manner of things around the house have been printed and over the weekend my son-in-law asked me if I could design and print a couple of blanking plugs to fit his ‘bike as he had lost his!

Rear gun maybe? at least it would be well armed. If you did get his arm, could I have the shirt sleeve please as our wind sock needs replacing?
-
That's what I did Peter although my cowl was 3D printed as were a couple of formers, the battery box / tray and the aileron servo mounts.

Not sure if these help One side on top of the other, viewed from the top.

Thanks for posting that Paul, I now know what I’ve always thought, my landings are true to scale.
-
You will not be disappointed with PS2, it’s a straightforward build and if you need more details on the electric conversion I did I’m happy to oblige if Peter doesn’t mind.

Yes please Glynn.

I’ve already done mine, of the ones I’ve built this year I decided that Peter Miller’s Peggy Sue 2 was my mass build for 2021 - awesome!

Forum members' new models: Let's see them.

Don’t you just love a Sinbad, gorgeous! -
Thanks Chris. I think that some of my stabs have a limit factor so that you can’t overdo the bank angle but at the back of my mind I’m thinking if it prevents it happening then he won’t know that he’s input too much stick. At the moment I let him do that and only intervene if he can’t recover in time, after all, it is my model he’s flying!

I use 6s with a dead cell and a 5s with a dead cell on my JE 24v starter, not had a problem with contacts welding and more than enough oomph to spin all of my glow and petrol engines (up to 60cc).

An interesting topic this one and one that I’ve been pondering over for some time. Now I’m not an instructor but over the last year, in between lockdowns, I have been helping my older brother ‘re-learn’ flying. He used to fly a lot and was a ‘B cert’ but suffered a stroke about 12 years ago and could no longer fly due to not only losing the power of speech but also his coordination too. Since then he has recovered some speech but not to the level of being able to hold a conversation, he can drive plus he can do woodwork and build ‘planes but he has great difficulty flying. I’ve been using my Sig Rascal 110” for the re-learning as I’ve found that it’s size and it’s good nature are ideally suited to the task in hand but the 2 things I’ve noticed with his flying is that right hand circuits are more difficult for him than left (effect of the stroke) and his reactions are somewhat slow, actually that’s not strictly true, his reactions are fine but not always correct! So how does this fit in with this topic, well I have been wondering if the fitting of a stabiliser would help him gain confidence as it may iron out some of his over corrections? Obviously he is on a buddy lead and I try and let him fly and get out of problems himself as much as possible but would a stab help? His flying has improved and he can now fly both left and right hand circuits and fig 8 but there is nothing subtle about his manoeuvres, no finesse on the controls and he is not yet ready for take offs or landings but we will persevere as the more we practice the better he becomes. I should add that I’ve found that giving him verbal instructions can be counter productive, it’s far better to either signal with my hands or one word, repeated instructions. I suppose I’m just really thinking out loud but if anyone has had similar experiences I would like to hear!

I you want some, just let me know, I can easily print some more off and different sizes too!
-
Flying pretty slowly - Looking at videos posted of the model in flight it just floats along but the brakes are not opened fully, they only go to approximately 50 degrees.
-
LE sheeting done Checked that the air brake would open Then it was sanding the LE to profile using my 3D printed contour sanders

That is one strange looking ‘plane in flight Timo!

You’ll probably find that you haven’t ordered enough of them Tim as they are so useful for all manner of applications. I found that when the first batch I bought disappeared into all manner of construction assemblies. I then bought the ‘kit’ which also has the advantage of having a nice little box to keep them all in. Now, regarding Paul’s faulty servo, between you and me I suspect that his extremely shoddy wiring, namely non parallel ties, is the true reason for its failure.

Laminating film - buying it and using it.

@mightypeeshyou may be in luck as one of the guys who put his name down for some from the original batch hasn’t followed through with payment so his 10m could well become yours!- 238 replies

I’ve tried different makes of paint but all have been acrylics, both water and solvent based and all have gone on really well and have provide a durable finish, as my LA-7 can testify! I haven’t tried automotive 2 pack type paints but am planning on doing a sample at some point.- 238 replies

Thanks Jeff. I know it’s been around for a while and I got the impression that modellers were put off using it due to the quantities you need to buy. This way nobody gets ripped off for getting it in quantities more suited to us!- 238 replies

I’m amazed and really pleased that so many are willing to try this inexpensive covering material. Spreading the word to keep costs down!- 238 replies
