If you have a good slope nearby and can fly a powered model forget the motor and build a phase 6. -
Depron in West Yorkshire?
Pete Stevens replied to chris sibson's topic in General Electric Flight Chat
Hi Leeds Model Shop sell it. -
No mate it is the ax version so has plenty of poke! I will also make a confession I've never owned a foss power model. But have owned a middle phase and phase6. So I'm excused!

Hi All I'm after some advice, I spend 80% of my flying time gliding and I would say I'm fair to middling with a mixture of EPP, carbon and balsa gliders. The other 20% of time I spend power flying. I have a Black Horse Speed Air which has been my Power "Hack" for 10 years but is beginning to show its age. I'm looking for a replacement. But ideally it needs to meet following criteria: Accommodate the OS 46 from my speed air By easy/quick to build as I’m time poor Act as a hack so be fairly strong Be aerobatic without 3d. Maybe a little more lively than the speed air. So far I’ve looked at following: Ripmax Bullet – Discounted because other people at my club have had them and they’re not durable enough and covering falls off Ripmax Acrowot – Not sure a 46 will be enough power but really like this one. Hanger 9 Pulse XT 40 – Possibly, expensive is it any good? Seagull Harmon Rocket 46 size – Is this a hack model? Black Horse Twister – Possibly? Any suggestions of advice? What do you fly when little wind?
Pete Stevens replied to Phil May's topic in Slope Soaring and Dynamic Soaring
Alula as if no wind at all you can side arm it up to fair height and have some fun. Radian Pro with no motor on as our slopes don't allow any powered models. I have also used really lightly built Zagi before which will fly in next to nothing. If there is a little blow I've flown a lightly built Limit EX but its not the most forgiving model if you close to the hard stuff! -
Not many Hawker hearts or furys out there

A few newbie questions
Pete Stevens replied to Dale Bennison's topic in Slope Soaring and Dynamic Soaring
Get yourself a zagi type flying wing, you can fly. In a wide variety of conditions. Join a club and someone will help you. This is how I learned to fly, t -
Sick of buying from eBay too many people start auctions then take Item down when get offer, an auction is an auction. A lower start price may help.

Guys it's the daily mail. Most of the trees that go I into make the paper are more intelligent than the readership.

Much use as a chocolate fire guard
Pete Stevens replied to Mark R's topic in R/C Retailers / Distributors / Manufacturers
I've had two, both fine no quality issues. I have a strict policy if there are any quality issues I return to model shop/supplier, they soon get the message! -
Steve I would join a club. I know it sounds boring but they'll be people there that can show you how to start, tune and make sure your engine doesn't deadstick etc. I learnt flying gliders outside of a club but found when I got into power flying it was essential. Cheers

Hi simon Depending on slope I would recomend an EPP model as they can take a lot more abuse in terms of crash landings than balsa or other foam models the JPSI - Zagi clone is a good start, but is suited to lighter winds than many other EPP models. Like I say it depends on you local slope. But you will need a transmitter that can handle a flying wing/elevon mix. £100 is a small budget even for that get a second hand radio then maybe.Look at 2.4ghz if you can afford it but again get one that can do glider mixes. Speak to the guys at the slope as many people may "lend" you an old airframe which could save you time and money. My advice is not to buy a Ready to fly glider from ebay without a firm recommendation from a flyer as there is a lot of tat out there, Oh and of course join BMFA to get your insurance.

What light wind slope soarer
Pete Stevens replied to Peewhit's topic in Gliders and Gliding - General Discussion
I've had easy glider and alula. If you want a slow stoogey model with really slow roll rate get an easy glider, but great in light winds don't get me wrong. If you want something a bit more aerobatic and discuss launch get an Alula. There is another alternative buy a zagi, then buiuld it really light. All are great in light wind. -
