  1. Robotbirds sell circlips I bought some 3mm 5 for a £1 and some 5mm 3 for a£1 they do other sizes look under motor accessories.
  2. Open structures don't fly well without covering, It would be interesting to see Richard flying his in the nude. He would not do it up here in the North East, It's too ruddy cold brass monkeys don't fare very well up here. Re flat batteries when I was a young mechanic I had to go to a breakdown. I told the lady driver the battery was flat. Can you pump it up? she enquired.
  3. I had one last week from supposedly BT open reach, so I played the senile old man not hard in my case. He said your internet connection is slow, I said don't worry about it young man I have got all day. He said have you a tablet? I said yes! he asked if I could turn it on. I said I had just swallowed it, I take them every day for my heart. H e asked if I could get to my router, I said it is in the garden shed but the ground is too hard to get the roots up at the moment as we have had no rain. Getting frustrated he asked if I could turn my computer on. I said I don't know about those things my son does that for me. Can you please get him. I said he lives 250ml away and have not seen him since lockdown and put the phone down. At least he did not bother anyone else during that time.
  4. Just had one today on my mobile saying I had a new payee on my HSBC account. As I have never had an HSBC account I ignored it.
  5. Hi Richard the plane was well spotted in olive green and this morning was identified as a Dornier. It was well liked by those who were there but the little shockie foamy I had created more interest probably because it flew round the sky like a scalded cat and did not take much effort to put it together.
  6. Hi Chris I am pleased for you that have had a successful maiden with the DR 1 after the disappointment with the Focke Wulf. Actually the desert camo is better on a dull day, of which we get many. My 109's have the grey/ grey upper surfaces and don't show up too good against the grey sky. The Ju 88 however stood out against todays dull sky.
  7. Sorry Martin, typo error due to bed time over due, the batteries I used are 3600, it would be nice to get some 4600 that would fit in

    10J or T12k?

I was a little confused with that Kc, thinking it must be for a Spektrum set. The Spektrum plug and socket in the TX are different to the Futaba so will not fit without surgery. I tend to think of people buying from a model shop and being advised on their purchase, but so much is done on line now the personal touch has gone.
  9. The VQ models shown above call for an 82 fs 40-55 two stroke. I have their Hurricane and it is a very heavy model, it struggled on a RCV 90 CD fs so I changed to electric which it flies better on. One of our club members had the smaller Hurricane and it was under powered on a 60fs
  10. Hi Jonathan, if you look at the side view on the plan you will see the former 2 goes in the front slots and the upper deck former goes in the rear ones.
  11. Not new, built last year but due to lockdown had it's maiden flight today flew very well.
  12. Happy to say this picture was taken after the maiden flight today. After a taxi up and down the strip all seemed well so take off possibly had too much throttle, she took off and the port wing dropped I managed to pick it up ok and after that it flew straight. Once airborne it only needed 3 notches of up to fly straight. After 4 mins. I brought it in for a landing unfortunately the flap servo wiring had dislodged and stopped the port leg from coming down fully so I lifted the undercarriage and belly landed. with full flap it gently came down dead straight and landed without any trouble. Very pleased with the model Richard seem to have the wing geometry spot on it is the easiest twin I have flown, I did not have to add any weight to get it to balance and after 4 mins. flight there was still 48% left in the 4s 4600 batteries. Need to order some more as I only have 4 that will fit so two flights only at the moment as my 4s 4000batteries are too big .

    10J or T12k?

I have a 2000ma 2s lipo in my Spektrum 6e and a 2000 4.8v eneloop in the Futaba T6k after 10 consecutive days flying neither have required charging. I have been getting a Ju 88 and a Chipmunk ready for flying and have had both sets in use setting up the two planes and still they show good readings, it must be at least 3 weeks since they were charged. I use 2000ma in my glow models and get a lot of flying time between charges, wish I could say the same about the electric flight models. One thing I don't like about Futaba is you have to be careful selecting a receiver as they are not all compatible with other Futaba sets I use the basic £27 6 channel recievers and have had no problems with them, but as I said before I don't use telemetry or many of the functions available, my car has all sorts of functions and it still just needs the basics to get you from A to B, Eric.
  14. As the electrician said to his apprentice who was never on time. Wire you insulate mate.

    10J or T12k?

I bought a Futaba T6K last year and find it does all I want. I have been flying RC for almost 50yrs. mainly scale and have never used more than 6 channels, I like to keep thins simple and be in control. The manual for the T6K is about 10mm thick all in English and being a computer dinosaur I have not taken up things like flight mode and very rarely use expo, I tried a gyro RX on my other set, a Spektrum 6e and did not use it after the the first few flights. The Hanger 9 ad. for the Mustang said it needs 5 channel, 6 if using retracts so unless you are putting lights drop tanks etc 6 is fine. Don't let me put you off buying a 10 or 12 channel Trannie if that is what you want, I like to spend my time building and flying not setting up computer systems as at my age it is too much to take on, but the technology is there if you want it, I remember a chap driving 60 ml. one Sunday to our strip, he had one of the first computer radio's. He left the manual at home and no one could help him so after 4 hours he did not get a flight. Good luck with your flying and the Mustang when you get round to it, I am currently flying a Warbirds replica Mustang 57" span, it is a great flyer as all Mustangs are and I like it a lot.
  16. I ordered some items from Just engines at 3.30pm yesterday, they arrived at 10 am this morning. From Shaftsbury to the North East of England is impressive in that time. Good service from Just Engines and the Royal Mail.
  17. Hi Trevor, I kept my exhausts in one piece and glued them to the cowl so that they would come off with it. I did taper the exhaust manifold so that it fit close over the fuselage, not as pretty as Paul's but after many flights they are still on.
  18. Re John Stones post. I have had a similar experience with a Kyosho Spitfire I bought from someone who was giving up, it had been in a loft for many years and the covering was slack and when ironed it became brittle as when I picked it up I put a finger through the covering. it had never been flown and had all the radio and engine in. the RX was 35mhz so I changed it for 2.4. I put some Sellotape over the hole. After checking over the engine and fuel system I flew it, it took off no problems and after 10 mins flight I brought it in as it was on approach the covering started lifting and on landing it had split behind the leading edge where the open structure began and peeled back over, the Sellotape held the part that had been holed. I have stripped it all off the top and covered it with laminating film curtesy of Ron Gray.
  19. That is annoying Danny, it looks great with the big prop turning. I have not had any range problems with the basic Futaba RX although I have only the top panels made from litho. plate. many years ago when I had the Bulldog a friend built the Fury and done all the panels in litho. even the cowl which did not look too good on the ground as he spliced the litho to fit the curves. At the time we were using basic radio 35mhz and he had no problems with the range. Cheers Eric.
  20. Because like me we work in a total mess, but then even on a clear floor things disappear, they are called borrowers, and how often do you loose something go out of the room and when you come back it's there in front of you. Or is that old age.
  21. Knowing Richard he has used silicon or a hot glue gun for the gavel,
  22. Hi Danny, I had this fear that I would have to strip it down to get it in the car. I have the Flair SE5 which is not a lot smaller and that went i the car no bother. When I tried the Fury it would not fit and my wings don't separate. I found if I put the tail plane in first into the recess of the rear small window and held the plane high over the wheel arch I could swing it in and it would sit diagonally in behind the front seats. A shoe horn would have been useful. Eric.
  23. Seagull kits are mass produced with labour costs and materials a lot cheaper than can be had in this country, a fact that has killed off a lot of our small kit producers. If you look at the price of Seagull kits to build , the Zero and Thunderbolt the cost is not much less then the ready built one that just has to be assembled, and by the time you buy glues and covering material it would probably cost more not counting the hours building it. I bought the Musketeer when it first came out at Sywell show in the late 1970's it was £23 but that was almost half a weeks wages then. It was a nice flyer with an OS max 35. it met its end when a big aerobatic model coming out of a loop cut it two.
  24. Can't sport the Boris Johnson hairstyle, I could buy a wig or just stick some of my wiring on my head.
