  1. Thanks for the tip Danny, I have made my exhausts in my usual way out of Fosters cans. They have a kind of shellac on the inside which when heated turns brown , I have only done the cowl at this time, need to cut out the holes for the fuselage. Cheers Eric.
  2. Posted by Danny Fenton on 09/06/2020 22:54:57: Much better than holes though my friend I had a bash with litho plate, just to see how one would look, next thing I knew I had done all six on one side Haven't cut the holes in the other side yet. Cheers Danny Brilliant !!! a work of art. Cheers Eric.
  3. Back on topic, those wings are looking good . What will be the final markings, Fury or Nimrod? Cheers Eric.
  4. Today I cut the numbers and letter k for the underside of the lower wing , I think it would have been quicker to paint them on .Must get that undercarriage finished.
  5. Hi Danny and all, I have the undercarriage. windscreen and the radiator to sort out along with details like the carb intakes etc. I marked the fuselage for the squadron markings but at the moment I have chickened out of painting them as I don't think I have enough paint and with the local shop closed at the moment I will leave it in works delivery condition, which is marked with K 2065, roundels and fin flash. Cheers Eric.
  6. Great fun Martian, I don't know any tunes by the Fury's but I did get the first bar of Apache. No chance of playing Nimrod.. Cheers Eric.
  7. With the change in the weather I have managed to get the tail rigging on the Fury done. It is more tuneful than the wing rigging,
  8. Hi Danny, the carbon rods really work well, it's looking very good. My stomach could not stand all that dope that's why I covered mine in Oratex, it is surprising how tough it is. Cheers Eric.
  9. Hi Robin, there is a good mix of modellers on this forum, but my preference is scale mainly ww2 I am currently building the Dennis Bryant Hawker Fury 1 There is a mass build started by Danny Fenton on the workshop forum. Like you I was caring for my wife up till last Feb when she passed away with COPD, I rejoined the local flying club last summer and finished off some models which had been put away in the loft. I started building a C.A.P. Mosquito a few years back from the plan not a kit., I built one back in the 80's and it flew ok on 2 O.S.25 fsr's , looking through the Sarik lists I found your model listed 64" span, the C.A.P. is 63 so I bought the vac. formed parts for yours and I am adapting them to fit. I think it would have been better to build your version but I had most of the cap one built.. I have made a lot of changes and used depron a lot.to reduce the weight for electric power. I hope to get back to it one day, as you say life really is too short. Cheers Eric.
  10. Hi Robin, Nice to have another Scale modeller on the forum. Eric r.
  11. This is a Hawker Fury I am currently building, the fuselage top from the cowl to the rear of the cockpit is covered with Fosters lager cans the printing is still on the underside. I found it almost impossible to remove. The gun troughs were formed from baking tray aluminium which is the same thickness as the beer cans. rivets were embossed with an 0 gauge locomotive riveter.
  12. Posted by Danny Fenton on 03/06/2020 14:16:34: Always amazes me how good a finish you can get with just tissue and dope Cheers Danny Its all in the preparation, you only get out of it what you put in. That's how your struts are better than mine, I spend more time at the field. Now the weather has gone back to normal I will make the effort to push on with mine Cheers Eric.
  13. Good to see you modelling again Martian,I see you still have 2012 on the camera. I hope it goes better for you this time, beware of flying fans. Cheers Eric.
  14. The radiator is looking good, after finishing mine less the square sections on the underside I found some brass sq. section that is the right size. As it is underneath I will leave it off. There's no stopping you now your in the groove. Cheers Eric.
  15. It fits!! After removing the undercarriage and prop I was able to shoehorn it into the car there is only 2wing bolts and 2 grub screws + the radiator to remove instead of all the rigging etc.
  16. Hi Danny, it is a relief to find the answer to the problem. You will probably have to make the strut to plan as I said I was not comfortable with odd struts. I made the rest of my rigging wires my method with high melting point soft solder, and rigged it all up using the wires to pull the wings into the struts and after checking I am happy with it. One of the wings had a slight twist in it and this was taken out with the rigging. Cheers Eric.
  17. It looks great Danny, very sleek You can tell it's electric, no exhaust s . That has taken the Mondeo of my list of cars. I am going to try the Fury in mine again with the under cart off, as I don't like the thought of de-rigging it every time I want to go flying. Cheers Eric.
  18. Hi Danny, I have looked at mine and walked away, still thinking of how to get over it , I would not be happy having one side different to the other. I found when I put part of the rigging on it did really firm up the wings which without it they were very flexible. Cheers Eric.
  19. Hi Danny, you make it look easy! my problem would be getting the wire straight. I'm fine if I can stick it down a tube and solder. I am going to try it anyway, will order the solder etc. tomorrow. Have you done any thing with the struts yet? I set mine up last night and found I will have to make them longer, I wonder what previous builders have done as mine match the drawing when laid on top. I had planned on mounting the radiator with two screws but found it awkward to put them in so I used two magnets. When I run the motor up it got to quarter throttle and blew the radiator off. back to the drawing board. Cheers Eric.
  20. Never mind Martian , just fly it inverted! Still looks good . What span is it? Cheers Eric
