How effective are the flaps?
-
Nice, Saito 72 is a perfect choice. I had a Avistar Elite a few years back. Nice flying airplane, I really liked the flaps. .

Last couple of years I have been trying the new Futaba universal series (300, 301, 400). I like the S-U400 Universal Servo better that the others. Well worth the extra price. I have two sets that have been flying for over a year. These are now my go-to servo. .

6V eneloops for the past 15 years. They last a very long time and are low self-discharge. Use to buy them but lately I have been making packs myself. Get the white ones not the black ones. Old and new Futaba radios. Futaba and Hitec servos.

Any news on the website?

I mix fuel and use 15% high quality synthetic oil and 10% nitro. The key is high quality oil. I never use any Castor oil in my 4-stroke engines. .
-
After much experimenting this works best for me. Much quicker than a crock pot with excellent results.

APC 12.5x6 is what I like best for sport aerobatics. A 13x6 is good. Best to do some flight testing. I did fly a 12x6 for a while. If you want faster a 12x8 will work. .

I was reading that high PH cleans better. What PH range will turn aluminum gray?

I have an ultrasonic cleaner. Will that do any good? What fluid should I try?

Any way to make this crankcase look like new?

Is there something wrong with this piston or just the way it was manufactured?

I need to make a decision about changing the ring. I have spare rings. It does have fairly good compression. Is it a good idea to replace the ring or should I use the old one until the performance starts to drop off?
-
I like that idea. I will get a bearing and see how it goes. Another question: this is more about the rear bearing. Stainless steel vs standard bearing steel. Stainless is softer but should not corrode as easily. What were the OEM bearings?
-
I have a couple of old K&B .61s that I will be rebuilding this winter. I have a question about the front bearing. Should I get a shielded bearing or a sealed bearing.

Compression Ratio? In the US were having a conversation about the compression ratio of various 4-stroke engine. Just curious about the compression ratio of Laser engines. I have a new 70 and a FT160 and FT200. Has the compression ratio changed much over the years?

That's why I recommend the new Futaba S-U300. That's their new standard servo.
-
Futaba has a new series of servos S-U300, S-U301, and S-U400. 300 is 4.8 to 6v, the other two are up to 8.4v. All are digital. The U300 is very reasonably priced. I just started a couple u400's this weekend. Very nice servos. .

I have never trusted the cheaper S-FHSS. I use R7008SB (FASSTest)on all my airplanes. Lots of airplanes, zero broblems.

What's the latest on a 40th Anniversary produce.

Thanks, I was looking for someone who had actual experience with using 14-15% oil. Do ringed engines need more or less oil. Probably the same. I expect that the rod bearing is the most critical. Have not had the backplate off my ST75 or 90. Do they have bushings on the rod or just aluminum?
-
Getting ready to mix some more fuel and want some opinions on the minimum oil I can use. This is for several ringed engines in the .45 to .90 size. I have a Super Tigre .75 that gets the most flight time. I mix 12% nitro. Just looking to reduce the cleanup. That ST 75 makes a big mess after flying all day with 18% oil.
-
What's the recommended oil content for those older early 90's engines?
-
Any difference in performance between the old ST and modern carbs?

Laser 70 Prop I finally got my new Laser 70 flying on a 10cc size Ultra Stick. It has more power than I expected, perfect for sport flying. I am running an APC 13x6, the flight performance is excellent, but it turns 10,100+ peak, fly at about 9,900. Is that too much RPM? Should I get a 13x7? .
