  1. Just Engines do offer engine servicing so just give them a call for a chat
  2. A small collar of silicone fuel tubing between the head of the M3 bolt and the fuselage side may do the trick - just tighten it up well before flying. Alternatively fir the both toa Seacraft cup washer and a spring washer for the same kind of effect
  3. I have done this three times...mostly advertising on the BMFA Classifieds has done the trick along with circulation of details to fellow club members. The key is to determine a fair but realistic price that the bereaved partner agrees with. In my experience the bereaved partners are just grateful for help and understandably see the help they get from experienced Aeromodellers as a link with the deceased. It’s nice to be able to help people who genuinely have no idea and need reassurance.
  4. Charles pmd you back but the message is unread. Will be collecting the cowl next week and sending it to you the week after but ...... where to? Edited By Jon Laughton on 20/03/2019 20:32:44
  5. Posted by Cuban8 on 14/03/2019 11:07:57: A question for someone 'in the know'.............. Just how much cheaper will it be for a company like Hornby to have their products made in China? At what point would a UK company look at its domestic costs and decide to farm out production to China? It struck me that once the costly injection moulding tools are made, then the costs of running the machinery shouldn't be all that different no matter where in the world the factory is. Would a company have the tooling made here in the UK and shipped abroad, or does China offer a one stop shop for such work? Where does the Far East offer the Savings? Is labour still so cheap and plentiful in China and other places, given their rapid economic growth, or are their factories able to run without the level of taxes etc that we level on our industry? Edited By Cuban8 on 14/03/2019 11:10:32 Further to the excellent answer from Nighflyer above I would add that there is a predisposition in UK industry to fail to realise the significant savings that can be made from identifying / removing the inherent waste in any plant; of course there are exceptions and indeed many manufacturers now understand 'lean production' concepts and try to embody them. However in my experience of having both directly run industrial plants as a Production Director / CEO and now training those who run other such companies to be leaner, it is a common failing that senior managers / leadership fail to understand that removing waste is something people need to be engaged in and be set examples for. Too often those at the top of such organisations 'preach' but don't 'practice'.... Add into that a complete absence of any really well thought out UK Government strategy for Industry or proper financial support and we have the situation where we who started the industrial revolution and led the world in aerospace in the past have 'sold the family silver' in favour of the service sector.... My comments on waste are just as relevant to the Public sector, Service companies and dare I say it National & Local Government...
  6. Really impressed with that rebuild!
  7. Oh dear I’m going to have to come out of the closet red faced and reveal that I too have quite a few unbuilt plastic models - some in original boxes from before I reached 18...I’m 60 now! I’ve even bought a few of the more recent Airfix releases ‘for my retirement ‘! I guess that makes me a fully paid up SABLE member.... Not built a plastic kit for decades but the prospect is still appealing. Ah the smell of polystyrene cement and humbrol enamel takes me back 45 years...to simpler times. The X-acto and other tools I bought for plastic modelling over a long period back then are still used today in my RC workshop; seeing / using them always brings a smile. Why did I allow beer, the opposite sex, education and a career take me away from all that? Thanks for sharing about this programme I’ll watch it later.... Jon
  8. OS75AX for its power, suitability for a range of airframes & relative quietness
  9. A Wot 5! Looking forward to the review!
  10. I bought one of each professionally built, second hand and unflown - I retained the straight wing version and my mate bought the swept wing. We both equipped our models with 50 size two strokes and there is no really discernible difference in performance. Both models are very fast and highly aerobatic.
  11. Phil how about: Silence Twister in stock at SMC Jon
  12. Looking good Martin! are you off to see Spiros et al this year? Jon
  13. I always use machine screws and nylocs / airtight nuts with plain and spring washers Edited By Jon Laughton on 02/03/2019 11:29:42
  14. I finally got through on the phone at lunchtime - Steve has been in China. Still no fuel tank and it was all 'HMRC's fault'....so I cancelled the order and will chat to those wonderful guys at Steve Webb Models to get what I need. What a complete waste of my time!
  15. Charles I have one but it has been cut for an OS 55AX and it is abroad in Corfu at present. If you want it I can bring it back early April? Jon
  16. Yes Denis - I have bought from him at Weston Park at the last two shows but I don't want to have to wait until June to either get my tank or my money back...either way there are some strong words coming his way!
  17. Well I’ve tried again to contact the proprietor to no avail. I can’t cancel my order and I can’t get in touch - not paid by PayPal either so contemplating ‘other’ legal avenues. Really frustrating!
  18. Thanks Trevor - the model is already built / well flown with an OS48 so it will stay IC powered. Not sure if surgery to install flaps is possible as I haven’t seen it in the flesh as yet☺️
  19. Chaps, A mate of mine has bought a second hand Chiltern Midels Tucano c/w OS48 FS. I will be helping him restore it to tip top condition and teaching him to fly it. If anyone has a copy of the original build instructions / manual I’d appreciate a copy so I can set the model up correctly. Also any other relevant advice would be most welcome. Cheers Jon
  20. Thanks Matty - Shambolic doesn't do it justice!
  21. Thanks Denis I have ordered stuff from them before and whilst there have been delays at least I could get in contact to progress things...I wondered if anyone knew of any problems (health, etc) that may be affecting their ability to respond. Equally if there is another way of getting in contact with them that would help as I don't have any social media accounts... Edited By Jon Laughton on 27/02/2019 08:58:54
