  1. Elfog just because you are ancient does not mean we all are. I know at 50 I am just a kid but that's how I like it. I am sure you had (coal ?) gas to play with?Edited By Bruce Richards - Moderator on 08/09/2010 15:35:58
  2. My first lighter than air machine was 2 black bin liiners taped together with Selotape, filled with gas using the gas poker, for lighting the coal fire. Worked a treat but that was that point proved not much fun after that without serious consequences.
  3. Well done Ian one both counts. Meeting up at the Nat.s and breaking your duck. Look forward to seeing more of your posts.
  4. Another vote for RC Planemaster. It is good value for money and does all you need as a beginner.
  5. In that case use a Y lead and connect it with the rudder to the rudder channel.
  6. Nose wheel can be operated from the rudder servo. use a hole closest to the centre of the horn to reduce stress on the servo. You need to make sur the wheel turns in the right direction and you may need to use the other side of the horn from the rudder push rod to achieve this.
  7. Yes the balance point is in the same place but scaled up. Sound like you need some nose weight to balance slightly nose down, which is the preferred attitude.
  8. Nice to meet up with you all.My son is called Michael if you are interested. He does not play around here with the old men.
  9. I have built one of the original Fusions. Its a good model and Gavin is very helpful and replied to all my emails. Their web site is half there looks like they have a problem at the moment.Edited By Bruce Richards - Moderator on 21/08/2010 17:32:50
  10. I think the problem here is about interpretation and enforcement of rules. When the club atmosphere is friendly, open, cooperative and flexible all these problems disappear. It's only when you get  an over zealous individual trying to tell others what to do that problems occur. It's for more about attitude that its is about this rule or that rule.Edited By Bruce Richards - Moderator on 21/08/2010 09:31:46
  11. That is a great idea. My son has just finished a YT International Spit (not flown yet) and I have a Ripmax Spit to build. I am sure I can get it done before then.
  12. I almost always stand in the pilots box, or close by, for take off and landing. For hand launch I will stand out on the patch to launch into wind. I think it is good practice to be able to control your model while standing to the side.  No criticism   intended just how I do it.
  13. Yes. I have not seen this before but it will certainly help to lock the domed nut on to the end of the crankshaft.
  14. I always stock up when I go to a show. I bought 10 gallons from Southern Modelcraft at Wings and Wheels. I find you can always get a good price if you are willing to buy a few gallons. Last year I bought 7 Gallons form Model Techniques at a very reasonable price at Hop Farm.Edited By Bruce Richards - Moderator on 14/08/2010 09:26:37
  15. Tim Morton, there is an application form in the MFA News to buy tickets in advance. I have got mine. Hope the weather is good
  16. Stick it at 110mm and see how it flys would be my suggestion.
  17. I seems to depend very much on the weather but I have see it both on Sunday and Saturday evenings. Great fun!!
  18. My son and I will be there camping for the duration. Would be great to meet up?
  19. Yes the tap had to be ground off to enable the thread to be cut to the bottom of the whole.
