  1. I too am a bit disappointed with content of BMFA mag in recent times.I understand in Winter it can be difficult to find articles on flying building etc, so other items are printed that to me seem irrelevant. Speaking for my self, flying and building are my requirements. Articles on t/off, landings, cross wind problems, trimming problems etc. Even though I have been flying for over thirty five years, I still want to learn more. Also there seems lack of interest in building these days with few articles on the subject. Please do not think I am running the mag down as every one requires thier own personal preferences. Cheers ps could be off thread. Sorry

  4. Thanks lads , great info. Some background on me. Been flying and building for over thirty years, all from plans and am an ic nut, lol. I have powered glider with brushed motor, (two cell lipo only.) built one elect model and obtained a second hand foamy. Neither has flown until better weather. Disposed Lipos (correctly) a s I did not know how to look after them and new ones inthe post. I had read lots of info on charging and now dis charging and only charge at 1c never unattended. They will be stored in lipo bags in out door shed. I did read on line of battery supplier that at a charge, change connectors to own requirements. Any one know which one ? Thanks again for all your help. FB3
  5. I have a lot to learn. I have read storage volts per cell are 3.8. Yet nominal volts/cell is 3.7v. What have I got wrong ? Cheers

  10. Hi all, still in the dark at the moment re electrics , but willing to learn. What is the difference of discharging Lipos to storage volts, or leaving them discharge to this voltage. Is it a matter of time ? Thank you

  14. You cannot go wrong with an Acrowot. It was my second model after my Yamamoto trainer ( showing my age now). I had a ver well used Laser 62 with a 12/5 prop to start. This was the old Acrowot I built, balsa and ply. I have not flown the foam model, but I assume it is much lighter and should fly like a dream.
  15. Hi all, I can see how the formers etc are used by the exellent picture, but how is the upper turtle deck covered ? Thank you
  16. It does not really belong here, but I had this beauty from my grandson for Christmas. The pilots notes that came with it are a great read too. Happy new year to all my forum friends. I/70 th scale on 70th anniversary. Cheers

  18. Hi all, been using Futaba 148 servos for years and years, just wondered if there is an up date alternative with same spec. Cheers
  19. Aliexpress, this may be off topic. Read article which said, if prices are ridiculously low it “could “be a scam. 3 off 3s 2000mah Lipos for around £4. Cannot get my head around this one lol, but not checked postage yet. Mods please remove if off topic.
  20. Love it, when I learnt to fly many years ago on my little old Yamamoto lol, I I was mos impressed by a Gangster flown by the clubs best flier.
  21. Perhaps Inwill give them another go after Xmas festivities. Something not too expensive. Cheers
  22. Hi all, when you build from foam, or depron etc, do you actual replace all balsa items such as for as, ribs, with these other materials or take a different approach. The wings for example will they need ribs etc, I have numerous plans of balsa models that could be converted, if only I know how lol.
  23. Hi, built this model many many years back but cannot remember very much about it only that it was a very slippery ship lol. Sorry for my lack of info.
