  1. Hi Paul, good luck with the build. I'd be interested in pics of your build as my wife and I are building an RM 2.5 Pixie for electric power at the moment
  2. Not my nearest shop but the best around! Have been a regular for the last 45 years (since I was 6!). Had a break of 10 years or so when starting my career and when I went back in Martin recognised me as if I had only been away a week. Excellent shop. Excellent team. David
  3. Middle lane hoggers Drivers who stick to a comfortable 40mph everywhere. If you think it's safe to do 40 in a 30 or a 60 you probably shouldn't be driving. Slow service and waiting for the bill in restaurants especially if they only have one card machine! Shop assistants who turn all polite when they ask for feedback on their employers website Discretionary gratuities automatically added to bills Having to buy a glass of lemonade and a bottle of beer in a restaurant if I want a pint of shandy because it is all that is on the menu
  4. I am developing a soon to be released smartphone app, allowing instant sharing of customer experiences, so feedback is dear to my heart at the moment. I have to publicly praise the guys (and no doubt girls!) at Horizon Hobby UK. A few weeks ago I had trouble binding a Spektrum receiver that I had in my stock for a couple of years but which I had not used. I sent it to Horizon with a covering letter asking them to fix it and bill me. Three days later I received a new receiver with a note that mine had been the subject of a recall and so the replacement was free of charge. Last week I started to program my unused but 18 month old DX18 and found that the screen had no contrast - rendering it rather useless! A call to customer service and the tech support talked me through the menu choices to adjust contrast. When this failed he advised I send it back for them to look at it. Sent it Wednesday, again with a covering letter asking for a repair and a bill, as the warranty was long expired. Transmitter was back with me yesterday! Two days after I sent it! Fixed free of charge by the replacement of the defective screen. Outstanding service Horizon Hobby. Customer expectations well and truly exceeded. Well done.
  5. Same happened to me recently. It is some sort of malware that many anti virus packages allow (I use norton and that let it in). Depending on which browser you need to disable or delete the appropriate add on.
  6. Posted by adrian lawrence 1 on 16/07/2014 08:24:07: I am not quite sure why when ordering it is not known which warehouse the item is coming from. Stated above the picture of the item is the warehouse where the stock is held. Also the system will not let you pick items from different warehouses on the same order. Maybe if you are ordering from a phone and get the mobile site the situation may be different so I can't comment on that. I ordered from an iPad on both occasions so perhaps this might be the root of the problem? However when I ordered last year there was no indication that the goods were coming from HK but when I ordered on Sunday last, it was clear that the UK warehouse was the source. Either way, given the fact that so many people are posting on forums about long delivery times, something is clearly not as it should be.
  7. Last year I ordered a few bits and did not realise I was ordering from Hong Kong. HK website advised that the items were in stock in a warehouse near me so I naively thought that might be the UK warehouse not the one as far away from me as is possible given the confines of our planet! Anyway, as you would expect, my order took some six weeks to arrive. Was I happy with the product? Yes. Was I happy with the price? Yes. Was I happy with a six week delivery from HK? Yes. Was I happy that I thought my delivery would be quicker that it was when I ordered? No!! Result one customer that has a negative experience of a company because his expectations were not met. Have ordered many items since, from other UK based suppliers, paid more, but had excellent service. And finally, last Sunday evening I ordered a power box from HK UK website as it was out of stock in all other UK based suppliers. Item was delivered yesterday morning. Cost me £40 whereas other UK supplier's price was £69. Will I use HK again? Yes. Will they be my first choice? Not at all! HK has a lot to learn about winning and keeping customers - especially here in the UK where we are such a great distance from their main warehouse.
  8. Hi Clive Thanks for this. Most useful. I can work with that plan and produce a much more accurate wing than by using the 3 view that I already have. My email sent by pm. David.
  9. Hi Clive Any of those offers surpass what I need! I don't want to put you to ant trouble. I can read DWG and PDF files but would not expect you to do any re drawing. Whatever you have will be better than what is already available to me I'm sure. David
  10. Hi Adrian i have collected 3 of the 4 on your list, (1,3,4) over the last few years from eBay and bmfa classifieds.co.uk. Worth keeping an eye out for them if you have not located any yet. David
  11. Hi Clive I have two Algebra viii glass fuselages, which I am about to start to build. One still has a sticker in with your contact details! I would bar grateful if you could share the drawing you have. I have a copy of an rcme article with a 3 view but it will result in a bit of an inaccurate shape if i enlarge it. Regards. David
  12. Hi, I have a JR DSX9 on a 6 servo glider with motor and ESC. I have programmed all i need to with the glider controls and have made the motor operational on the throttle stick in launch mode. However, i cannot turn off butterfly braking in launch mode. So, what i have is proportional motor control AND butterfly braking in launch mode, which is clealy far from ideal!! My starting point for programming has been the article by Sherman Knight on the JR site, which is brilliant, but has allowed me to miss how to do this littel trick. Any help gratefully received.
  13. David, I recently managed to source an un-started kit, a luxury i never had when I built my first Flecken.  I plan to make the following amendments: Wing mounted servo's to drive the letterbox type airbrakes that I installed on my original model.  They were more than adequate as I recall.  Clearly they are never likely to be as effective as crow brakes. Carbon spar and stronger main spar joiner. Central panels to be 46" long (out of 48" stock) so that tip panels have 2" of centre panel attached to them (as originally designed the tip panels were 24" attached to 10" of centre panels which are cumbersome to transport without damaging them). Good luck with the build. David
  14. Roger, I built a wildflecken in 1980/81 and have just re-furbished and put new radio gear in it! I bought the fuz only and drew plans for the wings - copying a fellow flyer's model.  A couple of points: 1 - keep the tail as light as possible or you'll end up needing a big lump of lead at the front!  Obvious I know, but the short nose makes this problem more marked.  2 - build in about 3/16" washout in the tip panels otherwise it will have a tendency to tip stall. 3 - the 2 x 6 swg wing joiners are probably at the lower limit and permit the wings to bend quite a bit on a normal bungee launch.  I am making a new set of wings with a larger main spar and joiner to try to reduce this flexing. On calm days this glider is (was!!) unbeatable fun!   Enjoy. David
