  1. I have also just noticed that every advert I look at comes up with my name and e mail address as the vendor HELP.....
  2. I have just posted an advert on the new BMFA classified section. It warns about leaving phone numbers or email as a contact. For some reason my advert shows my email address. Every time I delete it when I view the advert my e mail address is showing again. Is there any way to permanently delete it from my ad.
  3. One thing to note with Hobbyking film. The backing film is very thin and it can appear that there isn't any. Be sure to remove it before trying heat on the film. As you can see from my picture it does a very good job.
  4. Go to Hobbyking website, click on Workbench, click on covering film. Good stock of most colours.
  5. I must be one of the few that find it interesting. Not many of the articles pertain to my particular branch of the hobby, but I like to see what other people are up to as regards other aspects of the hobby.
  6. Well Ken believe it or not my wife is a model railway enthusiast, inherited from her Father who was a model railway nut.Over the years she has collected a large amount of N gauge engines, track, rolling stock, buildings etc in the hope that one day I would build a layout. Well I never have, and most of it is boxed in the attic. The pay back is that for every model aircraft show we attend, I have to take her to a model railway show. Due to covid over the past few years both have been pretty rare.
  7. I was REME based in BAOR in the 70s and 80s. I had a pal who was involved with the target drones. I was a Member of the Wildenrath club and had two models, strangely they were both powered by Merco engines.
  8. Been using this film for some time. The thin white line when applying it can be the only drawback with it as apart from that it is brilliant. I managed to clean it using methylated spirits. But next time I will try cellulose thinners. I notice that there is plenty of in stock in the EU warehouse. I bought a lot when the UK warehouse had it as I thought at that quantity (5 meters) and at that price ( £10) it was too good to be true.
  9. A little girl is sitting on grandads knee, can you make a noise like a frog grandad she asks. Yes of course I can grandad replies, but why would I do that. Well the little girl replies, Mummy said that when you croak we are all going to Disneyland!!
  10. I'm not saying my wife is overweight, but this week she got on a "I speak your weight "machine and it said one at a time please!!
  11. As a small club we have not lost much, however he did also belong to another larger club in our area.
  12. I still maintain the achievement scheme is voluntary. Naturally a well run club such as ours issues all new members with the club rules, and safety rules are well enforced. As a BMFA affiliated club we ensure we comply with BMFA regs. All of this does not require a certificate.
  13. I quite agree, and have stated on this website before. I have nothing against the achievement scheme and I was always under the impression that it was a voluntary scheme. If you wanted to take part and get a certificate fine. It now seems to be more than that with many clubs using the A cert as a requirement to be able to fly on your own, or in some cases to be able to join a club. Now this is where I have a problem with that ruling. I am now 75. I could have passed my A cert 20 years ago when my hearing, eyesight and general health was fine, unlike now. But as far as most people are concerned I have an A cert so I am good to go. In my club we adopt what I like to call the common sense approach. Anyone joining our club will be watched very closely for their initial flights. If any bad habits are noted a bit of instruction with a club instructor will be required, regardless of whatever certificate you may hold. What is important is how you conduct yourself now, not when you took a test many years ago. This stance has stood us in good stead for many years.
  14. I find that difficult to believe. If they were capable of turning out a load of clothes for escapees, surely there would have been no problem knocking up a set of pilots wings.
  15. I am the Secretary of our club and have just had our BMFA examiner ask me to put him as retired when I do the ratification this year. Bit of a loss really.
  16. This is not the Great Escape film on channel five. It is a new 3 part documentary with the second part this evening. Although we all know the story, I found it quite interesting and they show the actor playing Bushell as wearing an air gunners brevet as he did in pictures taken when he was at Stalag Luft 111. To get back to my original question why would that be, when in pictures taken before his capture he is wearing pilots wings.
  17. Watching the Great Escape on channel five. I notice that Roger Bushell is wearing an Air Gunner wing on his tunic. Looking back over photos of him he is wearing pilots wings before capture but has an AG badge on his tunic in Stalag Luft 111. Why would that be.
  18. We decided not to have an AGM face to face for the second year, It is still out there. and even if you are jabbed up it can still be a nasty experience if you catch it.
  19. I run mostly glow four strokes including OS and SC. I have found that they don't like old fuel that has been lying around the garage too long. Once set up on good quality fuel, I use Model Technics, they run well all season apart from a minor needle tweak. If I was to go to petrol it would have to be a four stroke conversion. Petrol two strokes with the stock silencer are far too noisy. I also fly a couple of electric powered gliders so I have a foot in both camps, both systems have their pros and cons. I don't think we will see the demise of IC engines for a while. Too many people still like to tinker with and the sound of them.
  20. I think it would be a good idea to give the person who has posted an item for sale the ability to remove the item when sold. I do not think an automatic removal would be a good idea as I have just sold an item which had been on for some time. If it had been removed after say a month it would not have been seen by the person that purchased it.
  21. I recently posted an engine for sale. this engine is now sold, how do I remove the for sale post and pictures
  22. As a matter of interest what type of radio equipment was used to control the models in BoB. I always assumed that true proportional equipment wasn't around until later than the 1960s. I remember my Brother showing me his Flight Link gear in the early 1970s which I assumed was the first of its kind.
  23. Pinocchio had a nose that grew longer when he told a lie. The pun is intended to indicate that the prop nut in the photo is quite long.
  24. "Piece of cake" is available on you tube also another great programme called " Over Here". Not great video but definitely worth a watch.
