  1. Hi , mine was fine out of the box . The only mod i have made is to replace one bolt on each blade with a short length of cocktail stick , this doesn,t affect flying but can save a blade if you have a less than perfect landing resulting in a blade strike . cheers...... les Edited By Les Littleton on 21/02/2013 05:35:23
  2. Hi Kieth , i used WD40 to free up a very old merco 61 . Give it a good soaking and use the prop to help , but be patient and the wd40 will work .working the prop back and forth steadily will produce results. cheers
  3. Hi JB , welcome back to this most possesive of hobbies. Now your back in the net you may as well accept the fact that " a model isn,t just for xmas its for life" There is a wealth of knowledge and a willingness to help that makes everyone feel welcome , so if you have any questions just ask! there is sure to be someone with the answer . Enjoy
  4. Did you get to try them out Johnboy ? Got up this morning and all traces of snow have gone around here !. Did the finished job have any affect on C of G ? and did the extra weight affect performance to any great degree ? . Answers on a post card to " WHERE HAS MY SNOW GONE" @ rubbish weather .com.. Dont throw away those wheels yet , summer is coming and its on a saturday this year, should be a good day. ...lol
  5. Iv,e had mine about 2 years and i did have to return it to horizon after i updated the software to DSMX . there were some issues with backwards compatability to early DSM2 recievers. Horizon updated the firmware and also changed the gimbals and arranged the courier . no problems since. I also own a DX6i and a futaba T8J but the DX8 is the best in my opinion. les Edited By Les Littleton on 25/01/2013 05:35:26
  6. Hi Stevie, welcome to the forum. I agree with UMM about making contact with your nearest club , i would hate to think that you went out and crashed your new model on its first outing and then gave up before you had a fair chance. You will find most club flyers very welcoming and only too willing to help a potential new member get into the air . Dont be worried about feeling a little lost because we all had to start somewhere and we continue to learn even after many years in the hobby. All the best .........     Edited By Les Littleton on 23/01/2013 20:57:52
  7. Finish my workshop. Finish and fly my 30cc yak 55m . Get loads of practice and hopefully take my fixed wing B test. Get some time in helping to improve facilities at the club field.
  8. Hi Wiliam, imho i think the saito 82 will be well underpowered for a model of 10.5 lbs . Something about 120 four stoke would be better . Dont forget the pics when its finished.

  10. Fantastic model, i,m already looking forward to Cosford this year !
  11. Here,s my workshop. As you can se its a work in progress which i was hoping to make progress on during the christmas break , but the great british weather had other ideas . Hard to see at the moment but when finished it will give me over 200 square feet of dry and secure space to store and work on my models, then i can get rid of the two sheds in the foreground and return the garden to barbeque duties in time for the summer. Hopefully i can have a roof on by the end of Jan and complete fit out by easter ( working wekends when i get chance).
  12. Kids got me a Durafly Auto G and a couple of 1300 mah lipos . Standard jumper and socks from the present mrs L , but we may be heading for frodsham so i might have to call in Steve Webbs LOL
  13. Got an early xmas present in the form a new job after being out of work twice this year ( previous job lasted 17 years) Onward and upward and good luck to all in 2013
  14. Hi Dean. If you have checked the fuel line and are still seeing bubbles then it could well be an air leak around the 0 ring on the high speed needle . I had a very similar problem and solved it with a little fuel tube to seal the needle where it exits the carb .
  15. Outbuidings and sheds are permited developement if you work within certain guidlines, Check gov website for guidence, but you may find that any wooden structure has to be at least 1 metre from border due to fire hazard. I am in the process of building a shed from concrete blocks at the moment in order to use the space right to the fence line. I dont need planning if i keep the roof less than 2.5 metres and use largely non combustable materials . When finished i will have aprox 200 square foot of warm and dry workshop.(or toy room as the present mrs l calls it). Just dont let SWMBO talk you in to putting things like decorating and home improvements before your new shed . If neccasary ,plead insanity . Good luck with the move. cheesr
  16. Hi Dean . I can get my pup into my vectra hatchback in one piece ( just ). Good luck with the build and i hope you have as much fun with it as i do with my pups , Engine wise you have a massive choice I have replaced theoriginal OS fp35 in one with an ASP 61 four stroke ,and the other is still flying on its original engine ,a MERCO 61 which never misses a beat. BUILD AND ENJOY !
  17. Bought my magician second hand from Whitchurch models about 4 years ago. Originaly fitted with an OS 40fp it flew fine but i have changed the engine a couple of times just for the sake of change, once to an OS 52 fourstroke and now flying on an Irvine 46 wich makes the model very fast indeed . I dont know who owned the model originally but heres a pic in case someone recognises the finish ,
  18. Hi Mark , I would go for a 13x6 for running in if its a new engine then to a 14 x7 afterwards. I have a 14x7 on an os 91 fs pulling my hanger 9 spitfire and it seems just about spot on. Try this link. .**LINK** cheers les Edited By Les Littleton on 28/11/2012 17:15:59
  19. Hello and welcome back . I just thought i would mention that i have both spektrum and futaba radio. The main difference between the two is that the spektrum DX8 has model match and can be updated via the internet while the futaba 8TJ does not although the programming is very simple and the arial is hidden inside the handle . Both have ther good points and bad points your best bet is to get into your nearest model shop and have a look at both. Or just buy both ( go on ,you know you want to ) les
