  1. Lucky you! My pc could handle it at first. Then I got an HD screen. And then it went to vertion 3. So I have it turned right down. Good flying though...   Who is pete (avec number)? @import url(http://www.modelflying.co.uk/CuteEditor_Files/Style/SyntaxHighlighter.css);@import url(/CuteEditor_Files/public_forums.css);

  3. I think that the power system is way too small as well... For a model of that size, you should at least be looking at above 200w ( and I think that would result in a very underpowered model) and a 3s 1300mah lipo isn't going to be very comfortable handling that much for long... I have a dedicated electric trainer which is very light of about that size and it ways 1.5kg, so if yours is ic, then it will probably way more.   What size ic engine was it designed for?   birdy @import url(http://www.modelflying.co.uk/CuteEditor_Files/Style/SyntaxHighlighter.css);@import url(/CuteEditor_Files/public_forums.css);
  4. Haven't got the issue yet, but I was disappointed to see Mr. H getting interested in itchy stuff in not one, but two columns... @import url(/CuteEditor_Files/public_forums.css);@import url(http://www.modelflying.co.uk/CuteEditor_Files/Style/SyntaxHighlighter.css);@import url(/CuteEditor_Files/public_forums.css);
  5. Posted by Tony H on 17/01/2011 18:03:28: My charger says it's 2C capable but it's only a 50W charger. would it be possile to speed the charge up a bit at say 1.5C or 3.3amps?  Yes. But it may not be ideal as many chargers have a safety feature which stops them putting too much in, and you would be getting rid of that. But then again, some don't.     Try telling your charger that your pack is 1.5 times the capacity you want to charge, and you will get 1.5 times the current (if the charger is any good...).  @import url(http://www.modelflying.co.uk/CuteEditor_Files/Style/SyntaxHighlighter.css);@import url(/CuteEditor_Files/public_forums.css);

Ah, technology,isn't it wonderful?  Bring on the hydrogen fuel cells, until then I'm sticking to diesel.  My understanding is that you have to rent the batteries from Nissan. The car is also only meant as a city car, or for a daily commute. But to me that suggests that you need to get a second car for anything else, and the environmental impact of making two cars must completely offset any possible advantages of having the electric car as well as being more expensive.   Also the need for lithium in the batteries will make lithium more expensive and make our 'leccy batteries more expensive... I don't like that idea.   @import url(http://www.modelflying.co.uk/CuteEditor_Files/Style/SyntaxHighlighter.css);@import url(/CuteEditor_Files/public_forums.css);Edited By birdy on 03/01/2011 16:58:11
  8. My 2ps worth is that one of the big problems is the battery weight; each cell needs to be packaged individually, and with a high number of cells you'll end up with the the pros being outweighed by the negatives. @import url(/CuteEditor_Files/public_forums.css);
  9. Nothing here... I've had the BMFA news for a while now though.

  16. As usual, a good mag. I especially liked Mr. Whittaker's column, and the glassing feature. However, here comes the constructive criticism;     - Would Mr Hawes please note that his Christmas goodies selection wasn't really that great; most of the new "innovative" things I had already seen, and other than that I assume that the idea is that things are good value. TBH Giant Cod will sell you a UBEC for less that  4-max, and A123 cells are not new. - In power planning Andrew Gibbs writes how you get what you pay for, and gives a story of his overly flammable ESC. Sorry, but I don't agree - a lot of budget stuff can be very good, and don't think most budget ESCs go around  spontainiosly combusting -  I personally think that he could be putting off a lot of possible new electric flyers by saying that you must buy expensive equipment. Rant over. - Finally, I suppose this is more of a suggestion than a criticism; You always have maths free aerodynamics articles - How about one with numbers for people such as my self who are interested...   Merry late November,   Birdy

    Tx Batteries

       The time has finally come to buy my futaba 6exp some new batteries to replace the original 700mah ones - they only gave half an hours of use after 7 hours charging today.    So, what to get?      And then question number 2 - is it ok to cycle the batteries via the side port of the tx? I was looking at the "instant" charge retaining batteries and apparently you should cycle rather than top them up, and I don't really want to have to remove the batteries from the tx to do this.   Thanks,   Birdy  @import url(http://www.modelflying.co.uk/CuteEditor_Files/Style/SyntaxHighlighter.css);@import url(/CuteEditor_Files/public_forums.css);

  24. @import url(http://www.modelflying.co.uk/CuteEditor_Files/Style/SyntaxHighlighter.css);@import url(/CuteEditor_Files/public_forums.css); The minimum spec is slightly pointless; it depends on the resolution of the screen you use and the settings for the graphics; my desktop was fine at full graphics till I bought an full HD screen. For a modern computer, you will also be running windows 7, so you need a lot more ram than 256Mb for the operating system. Try and get something with 2gb or more. Avoid anything with pentium, athlon or atom written on it, because they'll be underpowered. Chances are that even the lowliest of integrated graphics would be fine - you dont need a graphics card, but it would be better...   If you interested, my pc, which only struggles at HD resolution and is pretty out of date: Windows Vista Athlon 64 duel core Nvidea GeForce 8200 integrated graphics  @import url(http://www.modelflying.co.uk/CuteEditor_Files/Style/SyntaxHighlighter.css);@import url(/CuteEditor_Files/public_forums.css);Edited By birdy on 27/10/2010 12:03:23
