  1. Hi chaps. My old faithful compressor has stopped working - when you switch on it just hums for a second then switches off again. Having researched I am pretty sure it is the start capacitor that needs replacing. My questions are, where do I buy one from and which numbers on the side of it are relevant to getting the correct part for the job as there are quite a few on there to choose from? Also is the resister on there unique to that particular starter or will I need to transfer it to the new one whatever make it is? Please see pics below. Sorry, I cannot get the one of the cap to post the right way up! Thanks for your assistance, cheers, Simon
  2. Ok gents, good idea. I will have a bit of a strip-down tomorrow and see if any thing obvious is going on with it. It is probably a good simple engine to get to grips with servicing on. I will report back to the experts once I have had a look. Cheers, Simon
  3. Hi chaps, Thanks for all the replies. sounds like I need a 46 at least then! The 65 has been going for many years, and was very well used when it came to me in the first place (along with the airframe) - and it always started and run fine. Now it has developed a noise like a handful of gravel or two rattling around inside after cutting on me a couple of times. I don't have a lot of spare money at the moment so was hoping to utilise what I have to keep her in the air until things improve. I will keep an eye on ebay and see what comes up. cheers, Simon
  4. Hi folks. The la.65 that I have fitted in my Acrowot has finally waved the white flag and gone to the great scrap yard in the sky. The recommended engine range for the model is from .40 up, and I just happen to have an OS la.40 on the shelf and don't really want to spend any money unduly at the moment on another engine. The thing is........ it does not look man enough with its little 11" prop when I hold it up next to the plane! I know it won't be as powerful as the 65 (which I always thought was far more than it needed anyway) but will the .40 have enough go for basic club flying as it is in the recommended range? Many thanks for your thoughts Simon
  5. Ooops - someones in trouble! Guardian article
  6. Spoke to George at 4max Monday, 3 bladed prop and adaptor on doorstep Tuesday lunchtime! Top service, thank you!!!!
  7. I missed that one on Hobbyking! Probably out of stock in the UK warehouse
  8. Have you considered the Phoenix 2000 **LINK** from Hobbyking? £92.00 plug and fly! I have had a couple of these and IMHO they are superb flyers and great value for money. Many happy hours spent floating around lift to lift and flaps as standard. I had a Radian Pro before but have enjoyed flying the Phoenix more over the years, great for sloping as well! Cheers, Simon
  9. Hi Nigel. Will enter as normal. Says funfighter kit - can we choose which one this year? Cheers, Simon
  10. 'Vintage RC plane for restoration X 3' ........... or kindling may be another way of looking at it **LINK**
  11. Hi Den. My 109 is loooong gone but for some reason I still have the legs in my spares box (well 99% certain they are the right ones anyway!) You would need to get some collets to hold the wheels on, but you are welcome to have the legs and wheels if you want them, I will just pop them in the post to you. The manual for the plane is here showing how they attach **LINK**, and here is a photo of the bits. the wheels have a dodgy paint job on them but a bit of tlc will sort that out. PM me if you want them, cheers, Simon
  12. There is one on Outerzone **LINK** here. Its from a 1993 Silent Flight and has the build article with it. Looks like a simple build - and cheap too! Cheers, Simon
  13. Hi folks, quite interesting viewing clearly showing how the magic works! Cheers, Simon
