Hi Ashley, Have you thought of building a free flight type of model or an RC boat ? There are many questions to ask before you commit not only a lot of time but also plenty of cash into RC planes. If you are part of an ATC squadron the wing or civ com may be people to talk to regarding extra info of possible help with funding. Rob

A light brush with a bit of UHU-Por always works for me. Just put a very thin film on the EPO and let it dry before pushing the corner or edge down .

I have two main reasons for crashing, they are in no paticular order. 1.The ground was to high up. 2.Ran out of sky. Option one but don't tell anyone.!!! Cheers Rob

I was lucky enought to hear him speak at an event he attended a few years ago "what a bloke". I've also got a signed copy of his book "wings on my sleeve" its a great read if you can get your mits on a copy.

Hi all, I am looking for a source of cheep motors suitable for small Round The Pole models for use at an Air Cadet squadron These are perfect but are going to be expensive to purchase 20 or 30 of them .**LINK** Any body know of anywhere?, I've had a trawl of the internet but have so far come up blank. Thought to myself yesterday"if the weather stays like this im off flying tomorrow" Got all the jobs that needed doing done and got batteries on charge etc. Awoke this morning to find a nice even sea mist shrouding what looks like most of East Yorkshire......The best made plans etc Rob.

I started in freeflight when my grandfather gave me a 30ish inch glider for a birthday when I must have been about 10 years old. I remember watching other freeflight duration models wafting about on warm evenings at my grandads smallholding and the odd R/C glider stooging about and have been chasing that vision ever since. I am now building a DB Rookie glider (electric in the nose) having seen one or one looking very similar doing C\L circuits around the pilot with a .049 cox engine on a pod at a caravan rally that I saw as a kid. With me it is as much about the building as it is the flying. Although I still enjoy a bit on lunacism with epp electrics and the odd smaller glow model eg Mini Super and Ben Buckle Novice.  Edited By Rob on 11/10/2012 17:03:55

+1 on that , got it set up to record on the sky box so I can enjoy it without distractions. Cant belive that its been 13 years though.

Maybe the Pushycat, but I think all the others have been done to death over the last few years . I think the club 20/25 idea would have been good as it would have opened up a whole new world to a lot of people including me.

Ordered a DB Rookie glider kit from DB sport and scale for conversion to electric . Opened the box and found the best possible kit and plan that I have seen for a long time right down to the inclusion of a closed loop set for the rudder. DB sport and scale. I have just purchase a rookie glider kit from them and its probably the best quality kit that I have bought for a long time. Eddie and Judy at DB also do a few scale kits and plenty of sports models as well as a good selection of plan packs that are great value. Most of the kits lend themselves to electric conversion and suggestions are made on thier web-site via 4-max. Rob.

Any of David Boddington designs.The man was such a prolific designer and builder there is something there for everybody . Could be plan or kit built, Free flight or R/C.

As I fly on my own its hard to say because there is nobody to judge myself against but 9 times out of 10 the planes come back from the field in as many bits as when they left the shed.(sometimes grazed and bruised but still in one bit).I,ve put myself as competent. I,ve practiced a lot of circuit flying and approaches as if to land using articles from the mag and forum as reference and also the late, great  Lord Boddos book "Building and flying rc aircraft" which has been like a bible for me for years and would recomend to anybody new to the hobby. Mine would be a Sopwith Camel, Twitchy , hard to handle but with classical lines and a form of grace not often seen any more. ( got to add that bit in case she spots this)

East Yorkshire coast 20 odd miles north of Hull,England. Wrong side of the country for consistant slope soaring although there are 50 foot coastal cliffs within 1/2 mile of the house.

Absolutely brilliant, The only thing that could improve on that is a cockpit camera and a bit of RT chatter "left a bit ,left a bit , Bombs gone" etc . Great sound of those four engines and a great bit of flying. Hearty back slapping all round methinks !! Rob P.S Should we start a petition to get RC flying into the next olympic games? In answer to the topic question , next to none . My days off from work seem to all land on days of torrential and high wind. Yesterday was beautiful (although I was at work) , Calm breeze and gentle sunshine ,today I wake up to rain rattling of the bedroom window. Checking the weather forcast for the next few days it looks to be more of the same and then when(if) it clears I will be back at work. I think I shall retreat to the shed and whittle some balsa in hope of that gorgeous evening calm that we may get later. This year I am feeling more like a model builder than a flyer. I think I shall spend some time with the plans for the Sandow and get some wood ordered later. Rob

On a course that involved two days of death by powerpoint then followed up with a run of night shifts. I now think in EU and military saftey regulations having been bombarded with some of the rediculous rules that people in offices in Belgium think up.....and they did not provide a decent sarnie the whole time I was there, Got home and had an uncut best back bacon and brown sauce on white hovis bread...Bliss.! Now the next question . Back bacon or streaky ??? Rob.

Having taken some time to consider and research the subject I have found that EU rules state "All sandwiches should be cut straight across to negate the possibility of injury being caused by the accute angles on the corners of a diagonally cut sandwich" it goes on further to state "If a diagonally cut sandwich should be encountered it should only be consumed after the doning of the correct saftey equipment ie CE certified saftey googles and welding gloves" You just wouldnt belive it would you !!
