  8. Hi Jon Regarding oil and nitro content .Is synthetic two stroke oil suitable for use with methanol fuels? .I have several Lasers and have run them successfully on Duraglow for many years ,but am now finding it difficult to obtain this locally. I may be able to get methanol and I use racing 2 stroke oil in my petrol engines. I have tended to use 5 or 10% nitro content ,can I do without this ? Your posted about doing mail order fuel is very interesting I would be a customer Regards Alan

  11. Hi A chemists view .I havent read all the posts on the thred so appoliges if this isn't new . Synthetic oil lubricates well unless the engine over heats .When synthetic gets too hot it breaks down into smaller molicules which won't lubricate anything causing sirious damage to the engine. Castor on the other hand polymerises when overheated ,ie the molicules get much bigger .This causes the " brown varnish" often seen on the surface of castor lubricated engines . It also forms inside the engine in the event of a hot run .This causes the engine to seze but prevents damage . I use Model Technics Dura Glow fuel which has a small amount of castor with mixed with synthetic . If you are confident that you won't overheat your engine fully synthetic lubricated fuel is fine fot the engine and won't cover your model in goo. a bit of castor is insurance and smells nice!! Alan
