VTTS group - next aircraft is a Canberra
Keiran Arnold replied to Andy Meade's topic in All Things Model Flying
Err English Electric Canberra PR9 XH134 (G-OMHD) is for sale, last flew 2014 and is serviceable subject to an annual inspection. VTTS seem to want to find a job for themselves with the public picking up the bill. Edited By Keiran Arnold on 19/05/2016 16:58:35 -

John, there are Hunters still flying Hawker Hunter Aviation at Scampton are still flying "The HHA fleet of aircraft, which is used for various Aerial Support activities on behalf of the Defence Community, is operated on the UK Military register. The Military Type Airworthiness Authority has not imposed any restrictions on the normal operation of military registered Hunter Mk58 aircraft, which are exempt from the CAA temporary grounding order affecting civil registered Hunter aircraft."

The VOC always seemed to me to be about themselves - I for one am not sad to see the end of this venture (although its always sad to see any aircraft type grounded) Perhaps now there will be more money donated to some of the historic aircraft that have slipped under the "radar" but played as important role in defending this country over the last century.

Permagrit - fine or coarse?
Keiran Arnold replied to Spikey's topic in Building from Traditional Kits and Plans
Yes I really rate my perma grit tools too, my LMS used to hold stock until they closed. Tony there is a long list of dealers on their webpage- or you could as suggested buy at a show- although they are just down the road from me I always end up buying from them at the Nats. -

Tony, at the risk of stating the obvious try the Perma-Grit website. -
Andrew, The panel behind the cockpit is a Frangible Panel - Should the aircrew need to jettison the canopy it alows the canopy to "cleanly hinge" back away from the Navigator (WSO).

Jos, in answer to yor question about security- the Threshold is about 100m from the A15 (which is where the most of the people are on or near) it is a public road so there is right of way. As an additional point the runway at waddington is wider than nornal so often aircraft will land very close to the threshold as they will slightly understimate their height due to the optical illusion caused by the wider runway.
