Nearly 30 years as an aircraft technician in the RAF and I dont think putting FOD down an intake has ever been a good idea.
-
CSB they are hardly on the case having left FOD in the intake in the first place. Also taking almost 2 months to fit engines that were once changed in two weeks is disappointing at best. Poor engineering pratices has led to Missing the Jubilee flypast and missing the Waddington Airshow (The Vulcans home when the Falkland raids were launched 30 years ago) both great chances lost to showcase what is still an Iconic Aircraft. New Model at Field
Keiran Arnold replied to Stephen Grigg's topic in Aerial Photography, First Person View, UAVs
Safe flying is everbodies business so if there is an issue anyone should be able to comment - sometimes the guy with the least experiance (and the least bad habits) can see a problem that is too obvious to the more experianced member. If an accident occurrs and you lose the site you are all affected Rant over -
Glad to have you back , not easy being grumpy for you LOL
-
At the risk of being a grumpy doubter (in Myron absence) I will believe there are crates of spitfires once I see them on the dockside (If I had a pound for every story of crates of spits Hurricanes Lancasters jeeps etc that had been buried I could affort to buy a Spitfire)

Horse on runway causes air crash....!!
Keiran Arnold replied to Cyclicscooby's topic in All Things Model Flying
Horse probably expected you to land 1st time, and then though you would land short the second time- I bet he's telling all his mates' and then she stalled it' Hope it does not take too long to fix -
DOB, Actually thought the English Front Row played some very good rugby, with all credit to young Court who suffered, but will come back stronger and wiser.

The Vulcans carried out a total of 5 missions during the falklands including 2 skrike ARM missions (with some sucess). Tornado was still too new for the govenment to risk while Buccaneers did not have the oil capacity for the distance. AGM 86A cruise missiles were just becomming available but the US was unlikely to let use the (unlike the latest AIM9L sidewinders which they sent straight to the FAA) Edited By Keiran Arnold on 15/03/2012 13:54:27 Edited By Keiran Arnold on 15/03/2012 14:05:43

Flying restrictions for the Olympics
Keiran Arnold replied to Seamus O'Leprosy's topic in All Things Model Flying
I'm sure a Tonka or Phoon with a J or K band jammer would be enough to 'shoot down' most models even though our models are on s band a jammer close up would swap the receiver. -
Tony the chances of anything coming from Mars are 100 to 1 they say

Glyn Powell in NZ has produced new Fuzelages for Mossies one being used by AVspecs for FB26 KA114 which is due to fly sometime in the next 12 months. I'd rather see a Mossie fly rather than pour more money into a Vulcan project that afford to pay the Director of the trust 70k a year

Quick competition

Count me in please -
Err Colin maybe i've missed something but from the Futaba website Faast seeems here to stay and if anything they are starting to make their Tx's backward compatable Fhss seems to be a cheaper option for users not a replacement for FAAST

"RC model flying is dangerous and should be banned!"
Keiran Arnold replied to James Y's topic in All Things Model Flying
Unfortunatley some people just dislike model flying:- you could have spent all day explaining how safe our hobby is and she would have still found fault. So long as you fly in accordance with local bylaws and as per the BMFA handbook you just smile and wait for her to go away and then carry on -
This seems to be a bash Futaba thread!! The way I see it is Futaba has two systems to accomodate both ends of the market. FASST for the top end user and FHSS for the economy user. There seems no plans to discontinue either system and in some cases a bit of cross compatibility. The user choses what he wants Rolls Royce or Ford Focus to use a motoring anology. I am perfectly Happy with my Futaba Fasst system Edited By Keiran Arnold on 10/02/2012 13:27:36

Stu, not the story I'm hearing, whilst the F35 has issues with the hook they are redesigning just the hook part of the tail hook. Of course watch this space but not as bad as the doom sayers would have you believe.Edited By Keiran Arnold on 18/01/2012 14:34:37
