  1. Thanks Peter ,i'll ask the Club Secretary if he has had any info off our ASC at any time. We have an F3A flyer/BMFA examiner in our club that competed in the Masters with a 2metre a/c, and it's nice to watch him fly .I was surprised at the height he flew when I watched him for the first time, but lovely seeing those big graceful manoeuvers, and it really wasn't a speck. ( still seamed a big aircraft at height ). Mal.
  2. Is there a place we can get information on where and when the Examiners/Instructors/Candidates workshops are taking place, and can anyone just turn up to watch ?
  3. Good choice of the 120fs. I've got an XL with a NGH gt25. Thought i would try petrol for the first time, to save 30 min travelling for fuel if i ever ran short. First flight the exhaust fell off and lost the outlet stub ( new exhaust bought ). Second flight it fell off again. Bought 4mm studding to put dual lock-nuts and star washers on it. Third outing the exhaust stayed on. Fourth outing, the plane didn't have enough power to take off, so while aborting due to the larger size ,miss judged distance and took the u/c off on a fence over the edge of the runway and broke plug, as mounted it inverted (cause - possibly clunk had come off as petrol had not been long bought. Have now refitted engine sideways, saving plug braking if it ever goes off edge of runway again, fixed u/c, and awaiting it's next outing. When it did fly, on maiden, it flew perfect. Can't remember putting any trim in it. I've now got an ASP 120fs on hand, just in-case i get fed up with the petrol engine. Lucky for me the mounting widths and bolt fixings are the same.

How long have you had the petrol? . I've got an NGH gt25, worked fine on previous outing, settings not touched, but the next time it had no power to take off. I'd had the petrol in a can for some time, and was told it could be the petrol had gone off. Was told to buy super unleaded, (higher octane), which would last longer if the octane dropped off. (that's if i kept the fuel long enough). The petrol that i mixed up for the NGH , i'd had for some time.
  5. Don't know my make of z bend pliers, but mine's the same David. Too short a 90 for the servo arms. In the end i had to use long nose pliers to tweek them. Haven't used them for a while now, just stuck in the drawer.

  7. Sorry TinPot Pilot ,it was my writing. I should have said " I also filter the fuel going into the tank --- from my fuel bottle". I use a 3 line tank on this one. You can see my fill line with the green cap by the cylinder head of the engine. Actually I double filter my fuel going into the tank from my fuel container bottle. I've got a filter on the fuel bottle clunk and also an in-line filter before my hand pump, so on this one I'm actually triple filtering.
  8. Forgot to say mines a WOT4 Mk3 with the 55.
  9. This is mine. Same as yours. OS 55AX. Works and fly's well with no problems. Also filters fuel going into the tank.
  10. I was going to ask in this post about the breather in inverted, but CN-J has given the answer. Thanks Codename-John. See the answers are given before you can think of them. .
  11. Jeti has a minature pitot sensor. One person was using it to alter his gyro gain above a certain air speed. One of the first questions my instructor asked when flying my trainer for the first time was had i got rates set on a switch; when i said yes, he just flicked the switch, found high, and flew on that.
  12. Up - low rates. Down - high rates.
  13. Sounds good. I may get one. I also like that you can get all the engine spares from Just Engines as well. Thanks Stuart.
  14. Stuart. What's the noise level like with the standard silencer and pepper pot outlet ? Is it quieter than a normal petrol ?
  15. I've built a WOT 4 XL. Just waiting to get servos and engine to complete, but can't decide whether to get an ASP 1.20 fs or a DLE20. The 1.20 fs is a cheaper fit, but the ease of petrol locally, over glo fuel 40 minutes away, and i always have a can of petrol hanging around, is swaying me a bit. Also the thought of using petrol for the first time always keeps pulling me that way. Which would be the better preformer - the 1.20 fs or DLE20 ?
  16. Satriani and Boston on the CD player at the moment. Although i'm into darker stuff like ' Disturbed and Avenged Sevenfold' , but they're not really for workshop listening. Oldies can listen to Metal. I'm not for pipe and slippers yet. .
  17. One stratospheric Jeti user here. Although I still use my Futaba until all the receivers are changed.
  18. There's a note on the Just Engines site on the larger geared starter that they cannot guarantee the starter when used with Lipos as it can overpower the starter and cause the switch to weld. I use the align starter. which I've started up to 30cc petrol engine. Also has a battery indicator on it to show what's left in the lipo.
  19. I noticed Martin Harris on another post suggested "the pin in carb" adjustment for an SC52 fs. I've done that with a 2stroke when someone messed about with my idle mix and was pritty close to the correct setting (just needed another 1/4 turn out to be right). I didn't know it worked the same on f-strokes, so that's nice to know..
  20. It's the carb idle needle (bottom end). It's ninth up from the bottom in the parts select column, so you will need to adjust it for the slow idle mix setting to be correct. Does Just Engines give the start settings for this in their instructions ? . When you've altered settings, or going to alter settings it's always nice to find how many turns out the needle is before you start so you can come back to that setting. I messed about with an SC52fs bottom and didn't do this, and it took me a while to get it set again, but managed it in the end. So don't be scared,it'll give you experience for the next time.
  21. I used a WOT Trainer to pass my 'A' . Does fly well , and is a floater. Take-off's fine, does want to float on landings, but can come in very slow. But that's what you want in a trainer , not barrelling around the sky, you want to use it to pass your 'A' and get more confidence in your flying. Also when you practice deadstick you don't have to rush things as it just wants to keep flying. The first time i practiced deadstick with it was on my test, so shows how easy the plane made it. Once i passed my 'A' i then got a WOT4 to practice tail dragger experience, and a Cougar2000, which can loop in tight circles, and rolls quick; but gave me more confidence in aerobatics.
  22. I have got a Weston Cougar 2000 but I haven't flown it in very windy conditions. Strange thing is,i don't fly it much. I started my confidence building on aerobatics with the cougar, but it seems to stay at home and not used, although fly's great. It was the first model I test flown myself.
