    New, very new..

Hi Wayne & welcome to the forum. Good bunch of geezers here. Think I have the foamy your enjoying, though mines the P51. They are a great laugh ain't they
  2. Hello Norfolk', I'm on the other one too. Plenty of room for all. Welcome BB
  3. This kind of thing has been done on many occasions. The event holders public liability will cover this should things go wrong. They are usually very well organised and a lot of fun. Both to watch and take part in.   BB
  4. I buddy flyers on the ff7 & a 6ex. There is a known and documented foible with the delay you mention between the two sets. Master to slave, apprx 2 seconds. Slave to master, instantaneous. I have in the past changed sets, but it makes no difference. Two 6ex's will behave the same, as will two ff7's. As will a 6ex & ff7 or ff7 & a 6ex.  Hence it being important that the handover from Instructor to student is when the aircraft is flying straight and level. I always trim for a flat flight path, pull the switch lever wait a couple of seconds then call out 'Your Plane'. That way the student isn't aware of the delay. If anything happens meantime I know that I can have immediate control when the switch is let go.  Great that your looking forwards to your next outing - Always a good sign Its a fantastic hobby BB
  5. Hello Alan, I just checked the manual and it states the CoG as 7-8 cm back from the LE as measured at the wing tip. I double checked. As measured from wing tip NOT wing root. Hope this helps  BB.

  7. Well I couldn't resist any longer. Laser cut wood pack ordered today, along with accompanying DVD. I'll await it's arrival before even looking at a suitable engine. But, it will be the 65cc version ! With the extra wood & materials (inc engine & servos) it should come in at around the £600-700 mark. I'll take my time on this to spread the cost I think. BB
  8. Hi Steve. Your post got deleted. But I got the e-mail notification, which was handy. Probably because the embeding didn't work. Mods are hot on that sort of thing. Here is a working link to the video that you found though; Farmhand 90 by Steve Holland. Your Post; " It seems it can be built without a plan! Great idea - but I''d like to know if that applies to the wings too. A mate of mine fancies gliding - it would be a reasonable tug I would think on a 55cc engine. I''d like to know how you get on with it. I have indeed had a good time with the Edge - notwithstanding the issues. I am pressing on with it and I can whole-heartedly recommend going bigger. It''s one of the easiest aerobats I have flown. I have a Kyosho cap232 40-size with a 55 ax in it and to be frank this Cap is tricky to master in comparison. Steve. " Your right it probably would make a good tower. Looks fairly aero capable don't it. Looking more and more likely methinks.  Heres the Youtube video embeded.   BB Edited By Basildon Biggles on 06/06/2011 07:19:43
  9. Hi Steve, If I can the glassing will be against the engine bulkhead, U/C and dependant on model type in the fuz adding support near the wing mounting areas.  Been flying a 68" Zenoah powered 23cc Petrol powered Wot 4 for the last 18 months   And just finished putting one of these 26cc Katanas together, or rather finding places to hide the wiring. It's a profile. (pic is a promo pic - not mine). Maidened it 3 weeks ago. Very mental on full throws.   Im currently looking at this kit as a contenderFarmhand 90 for 30-65cc Petrol by Steve Holland.   Its a bit different so could be fun Sounds like your enjoying your gasser experience Steve BB Edited By Basildon Biggles on 05/06/2011 15:13:45
  10. Great find Dorset - What was he thinking !!  Better it were taken out back and shot. Anything to shorten (ehm) the agony. BB

  12. Never been charged import duty when ordering from HK. Always add 10 per/cent & use EMS. Never had a problem. Though I never back order out of stock items, you can end up waiting months. In stock items have never arrived later than 10 days.
  13. Good review Steve, Any ARTF that I buy gets a thorough examination before assembly: And I now factor in the price of a pack of Epoxy, Cyano & Fibreglassing. ARTF's always come in 'underweight' in my opinion. So adding a half pound in extra weight doesn't seem to hurt them adversley. Moreso with 'gasser's' because of the extra vibration.  Result: They last a bit longer, are less prone to small knock, heavy damage syndrome,so typical of many ARTF's.  BB
  14. I use these often. They are suseptable to vibration on i.c. models. Leccy planes suffer less vibration issues. Normally attached with hook&loop (velcro) then tapped down with insulation tape. Tied to the plane with some fishing line, in the event it comes off the plane, the camera isn't then lost.  The mic is quite sensitive and I sometimes use them just for the sound recording. Photos ain't bad either. Highly recommend this little unit.  BB
  15. Do any of you guys know if RCARTF are still trading. Tried ordering online this morning, but the site wouldn't allow a 'checkout'.No replies from e-mail either.Phone not answered !   BB  Update: Just got e-mail from site.  Things may not be as bad as I thought. 16. The following maybe be 'urban legend' but, I am sure somewhere that I read, that when the smoking ban came into effect that airlines stopped carrying oxygen tanks and air filtration systems. Apparently the onboard air was cleaner when smoking was allowed than now, when it is banned.
  17. Some photos I took when it flew over www.flambirdsmfa.com yesturday at 12:10hrs (double click for full size photo).  BB. BB Edited By Basildon Biggles on 15/05/2011 14:20:47
  18. Except that Phil. But, there are plenty of exceptions to the convenience of consumerables. As, for Birdy's 'Giant Cod' - agreed, and an example, on point.   BB
  19. Posted by Phil B on 08/05/2011 17:17:20: I think the old style build your own electronics has had its day. too many cheap electronics readily availabe for pennies when to but the individual components would just cost to much.   but that does not mean electronics has vanished from the hobby but they are used in a different way Not sure I agree, there is an excellent thread on RCMF for a homebuilt servo tester at a third of the price you would be expected to pay anywhere else on the net.   BB
  20. Known as LE-Drops. or, Droops they decrease the wing loading at slow speed. Causing wing stabalising on short approach landings i.e. carriers etc...   There is a current project programe taking place after clever pilots employed them during ' air-brake' manouvres, which showed an 11 percent increase in airbrake manouvres.   It is also possible to deploy them in the 'Up' position alongside aileron movement, together with an all moving tailplane. Resulting in extreme slow  speed attitude. Which increases with skill.  Add vectoring & the mind bogles !   The only theoretical boundary being 9G. Repeatedly accomplished by female pilots, over their male counter-parts. Noted through various studies. The physiological make up between men & women over these published studies show almost a 15 percent advantage towards the female frame.   It is more than likely that in the future female pilots will outweigh male pilots in a combat enviroment. Because of their ability to' maintain' flight ability through high G forces.   This is not to say that their male counter parts can not compete. However, in the future air combat world, the need for high G manouvres will be less & less likely as other factors take effect. Such as advanced 'ailigned' targeting etc...   It should be noted that 'air-combat' per-sa has in this centuary very nearly hit its Zenith. That beyond this point the greater prize is not 'target aquasition' from moveable aerofoil combat, but to higher altitudes and indeed to the reverse. Target aquasition to faster target aquasition. Dreaming ahead on my part this will take place with 'Plasma prepolsion' technology.Edited By Basildon Biggles on 08/05/2011 16:47:21
  21. Great flier. Nice piece o kit there, dontchaknow.
  22. I am sooooo tempted - Shut this thread ! Or I may have to blow the dust off me wallet chaps !   BB
  23. Welcome aboard an all that Jazz. Got any videos etc... of your comps ?   BB
  24. Hello Marcus, welcome. Lots of available advice here.   So what tickles your fancy re. planes ? Have you flown yet, joined a club etc...?   BB
