A set of spats would set the travel air off a treat. Anyone know where I could get a set? PS very impressed with the ARFT so far. Its very well put together. Tim Hooper Posted September 25, 2010 Share Posted September 25, 2010 Spats are easy enough to make from wood. You get to pick your own design too! The trick is to mount them flexibly to the U/C legs with silicon mastic, so they can move around as they need when taxying. The ones in the photos are 7" in length and have seen service in an 8lb biplane over the last 5 years. Still looking good too! tim Cut from balsa and ply.... .....and attached with a dollop of silicon! JC Posted September 25, 2010 Author Share Posted September 25, 2010 One last comment: Carbon Copy do sell spats and replacement cowls but the prices ae a bit steep. 50 quid for set of spats, all be it large ones, is a little costly. 27 quid for a kyosho Sitfire 40 cowl is taking the micky.
