Peter Miller
We often see items being sold with the disclaimer "I am not an expert" like this one Not an expert However this person has a collection and yet can't answer questions as he is not an expert? FunnyFlyer
Don't really see the problem here. I have quite a few engines in my collection - and I'm no expert! His feedback is excellent - so why worry?
Bob Cotsford
if he's not an expert, how can he verify his claim that everything is pristine? If an engine collector isn't an expert, how does he decide what to collect and what to ignore? It's a bit different to someone who has accumulated a few motors over the years - that would cover most of us on here!
Alan Randall
Seems like a get out clause to me. He wants a straightforward sale, no ifs and buts or comeback. May as well put sold as seen, but that might put people on their guard and reduce the selling price.
Biggles' Elder Brother - Moderator
I've commented on this before. I agree with Alan the "I'm not an expert" line seems to be taken more and more standardly by this group of "professional ebay sellers" as way of avoiding any "come-back" if things are no quite what they seem. We see many ads for models with "I know nothing about this model I'm just selling it" appended - same get out. If your "not an expert", you can't answer questions, so you won't say anything that later my be produced as evidence against you in a dispute. Simple.
