Simon B
After having a crash with my Acrowot foam-e (it's fixable) i'm now thinking what to get when it's irrepairable. I want something balsa, as Foam just isn't as resilient (it's been ages since I've had a foamie and i'm remembering why) and I know this won't last. I LOVE the flying characteristics, but don't want to go to the larger Acrowot, as I like the compact size. I'm after something that runs on a 3S pack ideally too, although low capacity 4S would be ok. Ideally want to run it on a 300 - 400w motor. Any suggestions for an alternative? I DON'T WANT A WOT 4 OR ANYTHING GLOW! Thought i'd throw that in before someone inevitably suggests it
Concorde Speedbird
Wot 4 E! Just joking! Not familiar with all the 3S etc (I'm IC) but how about this? It is for '3 cell 2200-3200' thingy, hope that helps, assuming you want an ARTF. CS
Simon B
Sorry yeah, 3S is a 3 cell, 11.1v lipo. I want a more pure aerobat than a 3-D monster, so less keen on an Edge or Extra. God, i'm picky...Definitely want an ARTF, as I want a quick fix plane. Edited By S-R-B on 14/08/2012 21:03:
Simon B
Quick bump to see if anyone who's online this morning has any suggestion?
Concorde Speedbird
I can't find barely any under 55" span (apart from the Wot 4 E!), only kits. This was the best I could find at 42.5" span. CS
Simon B
I have been umming an ahhing about a new pulse. I had one of these a few years ago. Nice plane and flies well. Not quite as good a flier as the acro wot, but not bad at all. If I go for one it'll be the slightly larger Pulse XT 25e
Roy Wellington
Hi, Have you thought about the Max-Thrust RIOT. It may be a Foanie but it is certainly different from any foamie that I have had before and it is a great model. Very quick to put together and is great fun. Far, far better than a Wot4 Foamie. So far I have hadin excess of 40 flights and it is unmarked and has never missed a beat.
Simon B
I have an Acrowot, not Wot 4.
Andy Gates
If you fancy building, how about from a plan? A suggestion would be something like the Basic 3D and modify it for electric like I have done. Not fast but pretty aerobatic on 3S 2300mAH packs with a reasonable flight time too. Simon B
I'm definitely not wanting to build. I have other build projects going and want a quick artf fix.Edited By S-R-B on 18/08/2012 12:42:
Keith Berriman
Hi there S-R-B how about a ARTF Seagull X-Ray or 540 (All Balsa ) If you are near to Leeds I have an X ray on the market in the For Sale Adds
Simon B
Looking for something non-3D, as not really what I enjoy.
Romeo Whisky
How about the Seagull EP Edge 540. Fully built-up. Runs on 3S 3200. Flies a dream. And cheap.
Simon B
Right, i've gone for a Hobbyking Zlin. I don't particularly want to go down the HK route, but while they won't make a balsa electric Acrowot this is the next best thing, especially seeing as the AW is basically a Zlin with mods. It's also 1.2m (approx), so similar to the AW foam-e, which means it'll fit in the car without being dismantled
