Jon Porter - Microaces
Hi one and all, Was it Baz Lurman who said 'do something every day that scares you' ? Well thats me sorted for the next few years. Launching a company reliant on sales of a product EEK! If you have been hanging round the RCGroups Micro & Indoor threads you could have possibly come across a build thread or two relating to the build of a micro scale profile Fw190 by Deadbird (Me - AKA Jon) Well I've turned it into a kit for everyone to buy. Lets hope everyone does The business is called MICROACES and UK based. The web site should explain more.**LINK** And here's an intro video on the Microaces Youtube Channel: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TEpv_nuCHNw&feature=plcp Kits will be available from this week. If anyone has any questions or feedback please feel free! Jon

Garbo
Jon Take this in the spirit of goodwill, but when I visit a site I am primarily interested in the model how it goes together a photo of the parts etc. You show a initially unatractive white skeleton and then a fantastic finished model with very little info on how to get from A To B. The FW looks great, best of luck.
Garbo
Oh just had a look at the video great as a teaser but also a bit sparse in real info.
Jon Porter - Microaces
Thanks for the comments, well wishes and the assistance (thanks Chris, that looks much better than the line of text - I'll tke the course before trying anything like that again). And Garbo, thank you for your feedback. I know what you mean and your observations will certainly help develop the site further as it evolves. I'm going to be making a couple of short videos to put on the site that run through the content of the kit and an introduction to construction methods. I would have had them done by now but I've had a stinker of a cold for the last week and sound and look like an old walrus. The idea was to post them on the home page and the 'Making History' page in the 'Media box' at the top. D'you think that would go some way to beefing up the content? WolstonFlyer
They look great, the detailed covering stickers are very nice. Might consider one when my current micro J3 cub is beyond repair.

Simon Chambers
Looks like a great product line and a good looking website! Reminds me a bit of BritFlight. I am really tempted to hit the buy button myself. But I haven't. Why not? No specifications!!!! What size is the model (wingspan), what motors do I need (brushless/brushed), what specialist R/C gear do I need (servo's), what size sports hall do I need (2 tennis court size?), does it handle wind, etc, etc. Also a manual is always helpful to know how much work is required to build the model. I also like shots of all the individual parts before assembly, to know how much work is done already and is needed. Good luck on your venture! Cheers, Si. * Edit - Just seen that there are links to PDF's with the specification - would be nice to have it on the actual site as, like a lot of buyers, I tend to have a quick glance to see the specification and decide that way. Still I would like to see what work is involved. Also what sort of micro gear do I need - I'm not a Speky user. WolstonFlyer
I was just about to say there are full spec sheets in pdf but you have found them.It looks like they are designed around the spectrum ar6400, this is a micro DSM2 receiver with two linear servos all on a single pcb. I doubt there is an alternative setup.Edited By WolstonFlyer on 10/09/2012 20:27:
Jon Porter - Microaces
Hi Guys, Thanks for the continued feedback. Phase 2 of the website will have the specification of the models and the histories displayed on the product pages. Due to limited time I wasnt able to get everything exactly as I wanted but the great thing is you are confirming that the design for phase 2 should go some way to satisfy your needs for website content, which can only be a good thing. Yes, these aircraft are designed around the Spektrum AR6400 & AR6400L Rx boards that come in most of the Parkzone, HH and several other Ultra Micro RTF aircraft. They can also be purchased seperately for under £50 from most Spektrum retailers. I've designed an Rx clip system so you can swap the Rx between planes without having to scrape off glue or crack open the fuselage. Its a fairly quick process and something you could conceivably do at the field so you only need one micro Rx and can have a number of Microaces models. Even the motor and ESC are easily swapable so after your first aircraft purchase, subsequent kits can come right down in price as you dont need to include a new brushless motor and ESC if your happy to stick a model in the hangar for a while. The PDFs of the manuals will be up on the website very soon in the product detail pages of each model. They have a full content listing in and a step by step guide to construction. I'll keep you all posted to any further developments. Jon
Jon Porter - Microaces
Sample Manual - P51 Mustang PDF The Assembly manual also contains a list of the parts included in the kit and tools and other parts required to complete the build. Jon Porter - Microaces
Hi all, Thought some might like an update. There's a terrible 'whats in the box' video on the Microaces Youtube Channel and on the Microaces Website. I can only apologise for the presenter. He's never done it before and he's not being paid either! Oh, and I dont know how 'forum ethical' this is but there is also a Microaces competition on another 'well known' forum. I'll say no more but nip over there if you want to see what its all about. Cheers Jon
Bill_B
Love the manual Jon, it's very easy to follow, well done.

Jon Porter - Microaces
Thank you chaps, it is a very exciting time at the moment. There seems to be a modest amount of interest and a few sales too. Mostly from the US and Australia interestingly. I've also sent out a number of kits to various magazines to review so hopefully they'll find them interesting enough to write about and help get the word out. rActive, I certainly understand the twin engine fascination. My personal top of the tree aircraft is the Westland Whirlwind and next year, if sales are good, we plan to produce a handful of single and 2 seater twins. The P-38 would be an ideal candidate. Major
They look cool and I could say I'm tempted to buy some packing material to make a model . Very impressive, but why Spekrtum??
Bill_B
I think Spektrum because it's relatively cheap, very popular and a lot of folks who are interested in micro models probably already have a Parkzone set up so could use the little Tx. supplied with the RTF sets. I may be completely wrong of course....... Edited By Bill_B on 25/09/2012 14:37:
Major
Well, after all it shouldn't be any problem to fit Corona or Minima into it.... I hope.
