Ray Litten
Hi everyone, finally completed my Skywriter build but there are a couple of things that are puzzling me. The CogG is stated as 70mm for the 48inch model, I have a thing about 54 inch models so blew the plans up by 12.5%. Can anyone advise me on how this will affect the CofG please. Also, I can’t find any info on control throws, specifically the ailerons. My bottom wing gives +/- 14mm whereas the top wing gives +/- 12mm. Does anyone know if this is sufficient before I maiden flight my Skywriter. Thanks, Ray
Denis Watkins
The C of G remains in the same position as on the enlarged plan Ray So just measure, from the leading edge to the C of G symbol on your plan, for the position
Lucas Hofman
Ray, i found the position of the pln to be good. I tried first with a more rearward position, but she was unpleasant to fly. My ailerons have less throw, about 3-4 mm down, 6-8 up. Start with little; you do not need to roll during the first flight, but if you have too much you can’t make decent turns and will have problems with keeping the wings level, which may be the end of the model. Ray Litten
Hi Denis, Lucas, thanks for theedback, my plan shows 78mm for the CofG so I’ll go with that as a starting point. With respect to the aileron control throws, I’ll reduce these and set up some triple rates. Thanks again for your assistance. Ray
