Mike Hardy
Just finished the final coat of dope, how long should I wait before applying the enamel finish? I plan to paint the underneath light grey and the upper surfaces light blue to emulate photo reconnaissance livery. Mike.
Daithi O Buitigh
Personally, I'd leave it overnight but usually an hour or so is plenty of time for the dope to dry out
Ady Hayward
Hi Mike, As Daithi states at least an hour in a warm room so the dope dries is a minimum. I normally leave the plane 12 hours after doping before applying any enamel or acrylic colours. Ady
Peter Miller
The dope may seem dry in minutes but I agree that one should wait a minumum of 12 hours, I would even prefer 24 hours.

Daithi O Buitigh
Usually they were all blue |(one colour) - check for 'PR Blue'
Pat (rActive) Harbord
Wikipedia has some useful info **LINK** lots of pictures on google images to looks very nicely built, 2 or 3 light coats sprayed makes a lovely finish

Daithi O Buitigh
Humbrol 230 is PR Blue - or you can try a 5:1 mix of 109 and
PatMc
Mike, I think you might find that enamel paint will be a bit heavy for this model. Not sure but I think a light spray of acrylic would be lighter weight. It's such a nice model it would be a shame to spoil it's flight performance with a heavy paint finish. Daithi O Buitigh
I believe you can get 230 in Humbrol Acrylic Check here for a colour chart
Mike Hardy
Hi, Thanks for your comments and info on PR blue. Another question - Should I apply insignia and squadron markings, the pics I have seen show no markings at all!! For your info the other clutter you can see in the background is a wing from one of the last ATS Kites produced by that company built from a kit some years ago. Back end of fuselage - Junior 60, a wing tip from a Chipmunk both still not finished. And, would you believe, I have Joined the Tucano mass build project. Well its better than watching the box!! Mike.
Daithi O Buitigh
Well the one that crashed recently at East Midlands was in PR Blue (but has incorrect yellow ringed roundels) There were also pink ones (believe it or not) but here's a three view I found on wings palette
