chris sibson
I'm a lone flyer, and have been for a while. I usually fly in a remote area, with no close by habitation. However, a couple of recent incedents ( not related to myself) have prompted me to wonder about BMFA insurance. Does it cover lone flyers like myself, or would I have to join an affiliated club? ( I have nothing against clubs, I simply do not have the free time to travel to them - my nearest is a 30 minute journey, and I usually only have a few hours per week free). My personal site is only 5 minutes away. In the case that I lost control and damaged something on the far houses ( approx 1/3 mile away), would the BMFA insurance cover me? Martin Harris - Moderator
If it was through something that was your fault, yes - it's BMFA insurance for all members and flying activities.
Pete B
Yes, Chris, you can join as a 'Country Member', without membership of a club, and have the benefit of the insurance cover. There's a thread here which may answer other questions you may have. Pete
Biggles' Elder Brother - Moderator
Yes Chris - the insurance covers all flyers: solo, private group, non-affliated or affliated club, it makes no difference at all; the insurance cover is exactly the same as far as the individual is concerned.
