Lima Hotel Foxtrot
This is interesting. Graphene may be about to increase LiPo longevity, charge and discharge rates. Lets hope it happens soon! Click
John F
The details were released a year or so ago and it opens the way for batteries the size of mobile phones being able to jump start a car! It's going to be expensive though for the first few years of production and will probably take ages to get into formats that we can use. Colin Leighfield
The mind boggles! What's that likely to cost, I wonder?
Concorde Speedbird
I personally am not particularly interested in this for models, but this is a brilliant for cars, aeroplanes etc to push lighter and better longevity in battery systems if they can get it to work and implement it. Good work. CS
Ruprect Spode
Batteries which have little ballast value and could be placed anywhere? The skies the limit! (groan).
John Privett
Interesting! The article is dated November 2011, so I wonder how much progress has been made in the (almost) 2 years since then?
Tangental
Ooh! A 30000mah battery. That's a stiff necker.
John F
Theres plenty of research going on at the moment. The tech stuff is explained pretty well here: http://www.gizmag.com/graphene-based-supercapacitor/28579/Edited By Sarge on 26/09/2013 19:59:
kevin b
What says one of the big battery manufacturers buys the patents and then buries it ? kevinb Cynical, but honest.
John F
The idea is already out there with many different industries so there's nothing to stop this from being developed further.

But patents only have a finite life, so you'd only be maintaining the current status quo, so unless you already had most of the battery market why would you pass up on the oppertunity to get way ahead of you competitors, if you don't they will work on it anyway and then either launch a product that circumvents the patent or be ready to for when the patent lapses, and you will be the one that kept them competitive by buying the patents and doing nothing with them.
