  1. I'm glad you started this thread Tony, I lost mine a while back and to be honest I feel nauseous when I look at my fleet or even log on to here. I flight sim and that only proves as another excuse not to build or fly. It started when a visiting family member thought she'd do me a favour and tidy up the dining room a bit, boxing up my bits and bobs and putting them away then waving cheerio and leaving me with no clue where anything was including my MOJO. I even got a nice ARTF Bipe for Christmas which only has had the wrapping paper removed. Gutted and bored.
  2. Extremely embarrassing! The largest parcel under the tree was for me, a Hobbyking Neuiport XI 900mm ARTF. I hope everyone else in the house were happy with their socks and tubes of Smarties...........
  3. Never built from a kit. OD and plan only. If an ARTF takes my fancy? I'll buy it! Was far too busy flying to build or carry out major repairs during our excellent summer, so currently catching up on these before committing to my next project which will be my RCME winter build for Greenacres 2014. My workspace is a total mess though, tidying required before anything.
  4. Brilliant! Put me in the draw please! Thankyou.

  6. Ooh! A 30000mah battery. That's a stiff necker.
  7. HK Bixler easy glider, very capable powered trainer/soarer/camera platform. Cheap and takes a lot of abuse.
  8. Had the real thing bashing the circuit at RAF Cranwell for about 2 hrs recently. Wonder if we'll see it in the RAF multi engine training role soon as well as the spying thing it already does? Edited By Tangental on 13/09/2013 19:20:35

There you go, decorating. To help allieviate any 'guilt' feelings you may suffer from, paint a room and explain how much it would cost to hire contractors then half the difference and spend it! To be fair you can't take it with you so you might as well fly it now!

I time delivered purchases so that she's not in when the courier arrives. "So, I fly models now and then. It's not a problem. I can handle it. I'm on top of it."
  12. Empty wish list David. Dunnoe about Frsky equipment, but given their proven history, ease of use, blah blah blah, a Spectrum DX6i would be my choice of first computer tranny. I suppose the Bixler is much the same as any in the generic foamy pusher range available and gets very good write up's on this forum. But if you fancy a more conventional setup an ST Discovery or Seagull Swift are good trainers. Discovery here **LINK** I set up and buddied a Discovery for a friend until he was confident enough and I was really quite impressed(quite something as at that time I was IC only) Tangey
  13. I can't remember how I learned, perhaps because I still am. Rubber free flight, ic free flight, control line, 2 channel slopers, 2 then 3 channel ic. All 20 years before the first 64kb PC's. Get out there and experience it! Use an Easy Star style floater on calm days and you'll love it! Today is good for it. Tangey
  14. Looking forward to going on the Saturday, is there a RCM&E presence? Tangey
  15. I'm so pleased for you Chuck! The Bixler is easy to like. It really is one of the best, I love mine. One word of caution though, because it is so forgiving it is easy to over stretch it. eg. Flying in higher winds than is reasonable etc. May you have many years of fun with your 'Biddy' Tangey
  16. Smashing maiden and subsequent flights with my little own design Eindecker this evening. It flies like a wee sweetie, fairly zipping through the beautiful sun set skies. Aahh........ Tangey
  17. Posted by Ernie on 31/07/2011 16:02:51: Hi Tom, I think you have to decide exactly what you want to do. An airbrush is a fantastic way to get really cool graphics, or to spray a small model. But, generally hey are a bit small to spray, say a big (2M) wing. It'll do it, but it's a hassle and takes ages Of course it's more complicated. I've just set up my new workshop with what I consider a good system A new small compressor from the local DIY cost around £80 I have an old small spraygun from the same source say £20 And an old badger single action airbrush which I remember cost about £60 Not a cheap system, but you can get an excellent finish, and great graphics I used to spend a fortune in cans of car spray For a cheaper system........... maybe a single action brush with a fine needle for graphics, and a coarse needle for big surfaces. You can use a big car inner tube as an air source, with a footpump to keep it full ernie Rather than start another thread, I thought I'd just comment on this older one. I bought all the neccessary adaptors for using a spare wheel and d'you something? It's really pretty good for graphics and smaller models/parts. Keeping the inflator connected to keep an eye on the pressure, anything above 30psi did the trick and spraying using artisits acrylics and Altico as the medium gave smashing results. Tangey impressed. Tangey
  18. Ooh! Panthera Electro, very nice! Only 200kg useful payload though, that's me, the Labrador, the cat and an overnight bag with spare Kitty Crunch and a sqeaky pig.
  19. Don't I know it! Been building a powered glider for 4 months(on and off) finally finished it last weekend, maiden flight OK with 'greaser' landing, 2nd flight gusting a bit but got that 'am I in control here? Feeling.' with landing satisfactory but not pretty. You guessed it, next flight too gusty, managed to get it within 6 ft of the ground followed by a spectacular cartwheel. Nose and motor broken off. Pilot error, flight fixation, aircraft out of limits with wind gusts. But Hey! I wasn't really that happy with the front end anyway and it'll be flying again in 4 or 5 days. Lesson: don't fly this model when gusty, it does not like it. Was I gutted? Of course I was! But looking forward to the next flight.

  22. Interesting subject Erfolg, lends itself to a number of building techniques. Is this to be electric? A 3530 1400kv with a 9 or 10 x 6 prop perhaps? No, maybe a bit of overkill, a 2836 with a lazy 10 x 4.5 would be preferrable. Sorry I'm assuming a target weight of around 2 to 3 pounds with a 3 cell positioned as far forward as possible.(not a great deal of moment forward of the CG I should imagine) Anyway, I'm just waffling out loud. Looking forward to your progress, I shall bookmark this thread. Tangey
  23. Isn't that just the business! Well done Graham Nice scale flying and it seemed quite fast, was that a slight swing to the left on take off? Nicely handled. I'd be interested in how much throttle you had it on when 'toddling about'? Congrats Tangey
