Ben B
Wow- that looks good and fast. What's the wingspan? Are the side ducts going to be used to cool the battery / ESC?
kc
Gary, you said it was covered in Poly C ....do you mean glasscloth / tissue & Poly C or just Poly C ?Whatever, it looks great.
Gary Vinten 1
Hi Ben The battery will be cooled from the front from openings under the fuz. The esc and motor will be cooled from the back by a scoop that will be hidden

Gary Vinten 1
What do people think about giros in planes and has anybody fitted one as I intend to fit one on the mirage and was looking for some feed back on what they were like. Ben B
I know people who have used them. Mainly for preventing massive swings on take-off or with high power planes to prevent torque rolling when you open up the gas. I was going to install on in a funjet but it gets a bit more complicated with elevons as you have to have a v-tail mixer after the gyro and then you lose some of the mixing features the transmitter has. GrahamC
Gary... the finish does look exceptional on that... I'd love to know what stages you went through and what materials you used. Are you using automotive filler? Edited By GrahamC on 30/09/2013 19:05:
Gary Vinten 1
Hi graham No the only filler I use is light weight balsa filler , it's a little late tonight but I can run it of for you tomorrow Just thinking I did use primer filler then rubbed back
GrahamC
Which balsa filler are you using - I've used lightweight decorator's filler and maybe that's my problem.
Gary Vinten 1
Hi Graham I use lightweight decorator's filler as well with no problems, as long as you let it dry . I then gave it a coat of polly c to seal it rubbed down with 800grade . then added light weight glass cloth and 5-8 coates of polly c until the weave has gone . Then one coat of filler primer rubbed fully back . Then white undercoat acylic sanded to a smooth finish then a top coat of red acylic spray paint and that is it!!!!! needs a little practice but does give you a strong and light weight finish
