Steve Hargreaves - Moderator
I'm building a HK Soar as a winter hack (£45!!! Can you believe it??) & I've managed to strip the brass thread in the clamping collet for the nosewheel steering..... Does anyone know where I can buy a suitable replacement? I've found these at HK but I was hoping to find something a bit closer to home......any ideas??
Masher
Can you nor re-tap out to next size up?
Bob Cotsford
Steve, let me look through the spares upstairs, I seem to remember buying these or something very like them. Failing that I probably have some old ones kicking around. What size is the noseleg? Der - 4mm obviously!
Bob Cotsford
yes, the ones I've got are 22-32mm arm length with three holes, collet 9.5mm deep with the arm half-way up - like the arms here. I(f they look the part PM me your address and I'll pop a couple in the post. Edited By Bob Cotsford on 03/11/2013 17:52:

Spice Cat
Steve, Just completed mine and watch out for the alignment of the wing bolts. Mine proved erm... troublesome.
Martin Harris - Moderator
For future reference, don't these use standard wheel collets pressed into the plastic arm and located by the fixing screw? I'm fairly sure ones I've had have been...
Steve Hargreaves - Moderator
Mines nearly done SC.....no problems with the wing bolt alignment although I think I will use longer bolts....the supplied bolts only engage the Tee nuts by 5-6mm or so!! I would usually knock out the Tee nuts & replace them with M6 so I can use nylon bolts but there isn't really enough meat on the Tee nut mounting plate to allow this.... Martin the steering arm I have has a collet with a serated edge moulded into the plastic arm....the metal collet needs some "features" for the plstic to mould around & grip... Over all I have to say I'm very impressed with the Soar 40...I bought it as a "disposable" hack but its really grown on me...can't wait to see how it flies!!! Martin Harris - Moderator
I'm sure you'll be very impressed - they really do fly well with a very axial roll and impeccable manners.
Steve Hargreaves - Moderator
Well his Bob-ness very kindly sent me a steering arm or two & they fit & work just fine.....thanks Bob...much appreciated!!! Bob Cotsford
Steve - google RadioActive steering arm or 'noseleg steering arm'
Prop Nut
Martin's right - it's just a standard wheel collet with a press-fit and secured by the fixing screw. I've replaced one or two like this, where the thread has stripped.
