john stones 1 - Moderator
you've had some grief with this one John hope test flight's a non event and it fly's like it should
john melia 1
thanks john , I'm still convinced something is not right , the propshaft still does not sit in the centre of the cowl opening , I've re-drilled the holes and moved the engine as far up as it can go , and the propshaft is still sitting off centre . john melia 1
just got to re-paint the cowl after my modifications , install the electrics , and its going up , how it comes down is another matter
john melia 1
sorry to keep resurecting this , but I think the box is a mirror image , ie upside down and backwards
Rich too
John, I thought we established that the cowl is at fault, what's changed? You've measured (crudely) the downthrust and sidethrust and there does not appear to be a problem. And your experience seems to mirror those of others on different forums. john melia 1
yeah I know rich , but I'm thinking that those cowls are made from a mold in which hundreds must also be made from , and if it was the cowl that was the problem there would be hundreds of complaints . Just all a bit strange , I've contacted hobbyking but heard nothing as of yet , I've also opened a thread on the hobbyking forum under complaints . Martyn K
I agree with Rich, its the Cowl. No matter which way you cut it, that cowl with 7 degrees downthrust built in is wrong. Your approach to getting it fixed seems OK. However, before you try and fly it, get one of your experienced club mates to have a close look, explain the problem to him/her, what you have done and the advice you have received. Get them to agree or disagree when they have seen the model in the flesh. Martyn
john melia 1
Update on the 30cc sbach , decided today was the day to bite the bullet and maiden it . Needless to say quite a few things apart from servos were twitching but I must say it flew fantastic . A few clicks of aileron trim and it was flying straight and level hands off . Well pleased to say the least .
