Spikey
Am I setting up my servos and control linkages properly? In my case it's just elevator and rudder, I use a Spekrum Dx6i, and what I do is this ... 1. Centre servo and fit horn as near as possible at 90° to body 2. Use sub-trim on TX to tweak horn to 90° 2. Arrange linkage so that full travel of servo gives full travel of control surface 3. Use travel adjustment on TX to limit max travel each way to recommended amount 4. Call this the 100% rate 5. Set required percentage lower rate 6. Put kettle on Is that basically right? Edited By Spikey on 27/11/2013 07:30:
Dave Miller
I agree except that I arrange the linkage so that full travel of the servo gives the recommended control surface movement; this, I believe, gives better resolution.
Peter Miller
Yes, that is roughly what I do too
Allan Bennett
Once you've found what travel is right for you, it's best to mechanically rearrange the linkage to achieve it, rather than restricting your servo travel electronically. To get less travel you move the connection at the servo in on the servo arm, to the next hole, or out at the control surface. To get more travel you do the opposite. Andy Green
You will find that if you rotate the servo horn 90 degrees at a time you get to a point where you may not need subtrim. Andy

Andy Only on some makes I'm afraid, Hitec for one don't seem to have caught on to off-setting the spline to make this possible.
