Dylan Reynolds LaserCraft Services
Just bought one of these artfs from HK, comes with everything installed except battery and RX. On inspection the 3 wires that come out of the ESC and to the motor are all only sheathed half way down, they are then bare wires going into one piece of shrink further down and into the motor. Now forgive me if I am wrong here, but this just doesn't look right, I was under the impression they have to be insulated from each other otherwise it would just short and kill everything? FastFlyer Smyth
Are the wires enamel coated Dylan ? As in transformer windings ?
Dylan Reynolds LaserCraft Services
I have no idea you can't actually get at them or see them that well either, but to be honest they look like single strands of copper wire to me
FastFlyer Smyth
I guess you could put a multi meter or a continuity tester between them to see if they are shorting, thats assuming of course that you can access them. May be best having a word with HK before switching anything on. If they are bare the esc will glow like a lightbulb lol !
John Privett
Dylan, it may not look like it but the wires will have a thin insulating coating on them. If they didn't they'd short out inside the motor as the windings are wound without any physical separation.
GrumpyGnome
Hi Dylan Can you let us know how it flies please ? Martyn K
I'd like to know how wll it flies as well - especially things like duration, battery life etc. It looks like it would be a good holiday model. Dylan Reynolds LaserCraft Services
Well it doesn't fly!Charged batteries installed rx fitted battery and nothing. Nada. Zilch. This parrot is dead! Can't tell which bit is broken. The rx doesn't have a light on it to indicate its working and the esc and motor are buried and moulded in. David Hardaker
Bound correctly ???
Dylan Reynolds LaserCraft Services
Bound? I dunno, like I say there is no light to indicate on the receiver, I guess its not since there is no twitch on the surfaces when the battery is first plugged in as is the case with all my other planes.
