Tony F
Can i get any help please ? I have a large perspex canopy that is clear. Are any products available to dim the glass the same as privacy glass on cars. A4 size sheet of something would be perfect.TonyEdited By Tony F on 27/04/2014 12:35:

kevin b
Google glass tint. You will find quite a few materials / systems available, mostly for the automotive industry. kevinb.

Codename-John
You could also try a spray made for tinting rear car lights darker, You can usually get it at Halfords etc, something like this
Chuck Plains
If it can be done to car head and tail lights, (most of which are plastic) I'm sure it can be done to a large plastic canopy. Headlight tint on Youtube

John Mccullagh
nobody seems to have said but you can dye the canopy with dylon clothes dye it used to be quite popular best to try it on another canopy first to get the shade /darkness and colour you want without spoiling your canopy .john
Chuck Plains
Good point. Dyeing might work, and it adds the least weight. Or you can buy spray tint for plastic. But. . . Hmm, I used to dye RC car suspension arms and co, but you had to boil them in the dye solution. Not sure if merely warm dye will work. But I only tried what was recommended. I've seen a guy, on Youtube, dyeing his own 3D printed parts in warm solution, but he had to add approx 20% acetone to the mix eventually, to make it work on ABS. Fraser White
Tamiya do a spray that you used on the inside of the RC Car shells to add a smoked effect on the window areas. Think its called Smoke PS-31 from memory. Cheers Fraser
Fraser White
....and be sure to warm the can up before spraying. Not sure why but the results are better
kevin b
Warming the can thins the paint, therefore producing smaller (finer) droplets. It also excites (or expands) the propellant molecules, which increases the pressure.
