Hamish
Just secure the wheel so that it does not move and you will find you can control easily enough with the rudder. I consider the steering front wheel just an un-necessary complication unless you want to do precision manouvers on the ground.
john stones 1 - Moderator
Do you mean the plastic link with the collet in David ? I have some Have you considered making it a taildragger, nose wheels can be a pain whilst your learning. John

David Davis
I agree with Hamish. Steerable nose-wheels are a week point on any basic trainer and may be replaced by a fixed nose-wheel leg which you can buy from any model shop. Once you've learned how to fly, if your trainer survives, you may retro-fit the steerable one.
cymaz
Convert it to a tail dragger. After the trainer you may find that you fly them all the time, unless you buy a Cessna etc.
Johnny Kirkham
When i had my trainer we used to fly off pretty rough ground and the front nose wheel had a mind of its own because of the weak control linkage. I took the steering arm off, bent the top of the leg at 90 degrees and secured it with saddle clamps.....great improvement. Johnny
