Jim Newberry - Nuviation Ltd.
Hi Folks, I've been busy with Turbocad again and drawn up plans for the next OD sports model. This time it's a semi aerobatic biplane of 60" span called Flikamoka. In case you were wondering where I got the name from, that's what my 4 year old daughter calls sycamores when we play with them. Anyway, here it is - please let me have any comments, good or bad. Construction is mainly from balsa and lite ply, I'm aiming for an all up weight of around 5-5.5lbs and electric power. roger graves
I agree re moment arm, fin/rudder look small, flat bottom wing section you will probably need negative incidence on tailplane. HTH Roger
Jim Newberry - Nuviation Ltd.
Thanks for the input chaps. It's all good stuff. As it happens, the tail moment is slightly less than that of a Tigermoth. Roger - it's a slightly semi symmetrical section, the lower wing has an incidence of 1.5 degrees while the upper has 3 degrees. This is my first biplane design so I'd welcome anyone's input about thrust angles, CG, incidence angles etc. Best wishes, Jim.
