Bob Cotsford
So I've gone and bought a new in box Evo 35GT at a fraction of it's original rrp, this being essentially a rebadged MVVS 35. It comes with a 10mm(?) plug with matching spanner, a 4.8v ignition module and no silencer. So - how to keep the noise down without breaking the bank - HK manifolds and cans or are they a waste of money? Are any Pitts style silencers worth using? It seems to use the common '50' size exhaust fittings of 41mm bolt spacing. What about inlet trumpets/filters? This engine will ultimately go in a Maher's Thunderbird once I've built it, so it's got a big radial style cowl to hide in. Any hints and tips on running petrol motors? Ultymate
Providing the model is canister friendly that's the way to go Bob the three best makes are JMB, MTW or Krumscheid sadly I'm afraid at new prices none of the above come without the risk of denting one's bank balance. Mark Hancock
I agree with the above. Tried the cheap route and ended up spending more money.

Bob Cotsford
I've dealt with Puffin before for my MVVS90 glow spares. MVVS parts and accessories are surprisingly reasonable, pity they don't do a can setup for the 35. Mark, what was the cheap route that didn't work? HK? E-bay setups? Was it a case of too much noise or did they fall apart?
Peter Jenkins
Have you tried Weston UK Bob?
Ted
Bob, If you read Cymaz again Puffin do make a silencer for a 35 Petrol. Ted
Bob Cotsford
Unfortunately the choices they offer for a 35 that I can see are Pitts in_cowl or a full length tuned pipe. Looking at the Tbird plan I'm limited on can length by the wing cutout, it's not plug in wing design. So it looks like I want a front exit stubby canister. Bob Cotsford
A JMB canister looks favourite so far - Krumscheid are about 30% more for a canister. I'll drop IAD an email in due course for details. Thanks again all.
