Dreaded Delete Button

Overtired and in a hurry and deleted a favourite photo from an SD Card before saving to the hard drive. I looked on the Web and it seems there are a number of recovery software options but McAfee give me a warning every time. I have not yet overwritten anything on the card so I so websites say there may be a chance but that might just be to draw me in. Does anyone know a safe programme for Windows on a PC? Please!

Maybe it would be better to take the card to a specialist so I don't have to involve my PC.

Levanter3, It is normally possible to recover almost 100% of the contents of an SD card/memory stick, as long as you haven't written anything new to it, and I see you have wisely not done that.

Sandisk cards often some with a utility (which work on any cards) on them before use, most people don't notice because they just shove them in the camera and format them, but you can download it from Sandisk here, you'll likely be surprised at some of the stuff it recovers from your card. For example if you once filled it years ago and since then have never quite filled it then the some very old pictures might be recovered.

Its free to download and has no adware or any other nasties inside it.

THis s why it is so ridiculous when Police or other authorities demand that you delete pictures that they don't like.

You go home and recover them.

I have never had to do this but I do have the Sandisc recovery program on a tiny little CD somewhere. I think it came with a CompactFlash card once
