Matt Halton
I just got one o' these! I have used GP 10 retracts instead of the supplied ones as the wire looks a tad flimsy. Also am running my retracts from one servo,as I want to use the other servo elswhere in this plane if all goes to plan!I'm just installing my Mega 16/15/4 and Cobri gearbox which I just liberated from my trusty but old EF P-47.Also removed the supplied stupid looking pilot for one I carved myself with a modicum of additional cockpit detail.Am going for a 5 blade prop and scale spinner set up too. This is one very cool model. Thanks for the tips in this thread, as I suspected, the plastic wing cover looks like a pain to fit,so I'll work around that one as you guys have. Finally, mine will be fitted with scale dummy wing fuel tanks.CheersMatt

Sheldon Holy
Theese planes look nice, how much did it come to with the BRC setup?? This blog is getting me interested in the plane! lol Is it just the normal high density foam or a form of EPP?
winchweight
The model was £59 and the motor and esc was £30. The servos were £15 for 4 (7.5g micros) but 6 are needed if you want rudder function.http://www.brchobbies.com/?page=shop&action=additem&item=
David Ashby - Moderator
Sheldon - it's normal foam, not EPP. Matt - awesome pilot - where do you get the blades from?
Matt Halton
Sorry, the blades are Flying Styro, the hub is from ply lams-I haven't made mine yet, that is someone else's photo. The pilot is carved from pink foam, painted with Poly C and painted with acrylics..Today, I'm getting started on the wing tanks.I can post templates of the wing tanks if anyone is interested?I opted for one servo to save a servo to use somwhere else in the model,am hoping I can install flaps, don't know yet, we'll see how things pan out.! Would be cool though...I really wish you could buy these models unpainted, I'd have a field day!I decided the next one I buy will be sanded down, covered with tissue/Poly C and converted into a T.20,now that would be very cool! Matt Halton
Shaun, I'm putting together a magazine article ,will cover A-Z of how it's done.Started making the dummy tanks-here's progress so far. Shaped from foam, pylons 2 x lams 6mm depron, black depron strips of 3mm thick around the edges.Nice and sunny today,so thought I'd better get outside and get carving!Nearly ready to paint and fit,a bit more sanding and prep to do first! Thanks for your kind comments, the Mustang prop is a good ole GWS orange 4 blader (well, was until I painted it!)
