Depron Daz
Mods, Can you help? When I'm typing a line and want to create a new paragraph, I press ENTER but it takes the cursor back to the beginning of my text, as in this case before the capital M I then have to press the down key repeatedly to get to a new paragraph. It doesn't do it on any other site I use or Word document, so is it my computer or something's up with this site? Hope you can help because it's frustrating! Richard Wood
Try pressing the up arrow key at the same time as the Enter key. I used to get an extra line like this when pressing enter alone but no longer!
Robin Etherton
Yeah I get this too. Annoying isn't it. Robin💥💥💥💥

John Rudd
Occurs here too..... http://www.model-engineer.co.uk/forums/postings.asp?th=115647 Maybe a bug in the application software?
Pete B
If you enter 'cursor' in the search box, you'll find a couple of threads on the same issue, neither of which came up with a solution. I'll let the techies know again and see if they can help. Pete
Dave Bran
Working normally here However, if you are reporting a site issue anywhere, its normal and usually pretty important to anyone trying to follow up to state what browser (inc version number) and operating system you are using. Windows 7 Home, Firefox 44.0.
Pete B
According to the techies, this seems to be a 'tail-chasing' issue. The forum text editor and iPads don't seem to work together very well and each time an update is made to solve one issue, another is often created. Testing every combo of device and browser each time there is an iPad or text editor change isn't realistic, I'm sure you'd appreciate. If there has been a recent iPad update which may have created a new problem, they are unaware of it. There are always improvements and changes in the pipeline, so I think the best we can hope for is that, for most of us, it 'works' most of the time.... Sorry I can't be more positive! Martin Harris - Moderator
Yes - it's always been a problem for me when using my iPad. PC is fine with any browser I've tried (IE, Edge, Firefox, Chrome) I enter return and then click the cursor below the text which then starts the new line where it should be. Depron Daz
I'm using a Windows 10 Notebook thing, similar I suppose to an ipad but this has a detachable keyboard. It uses Microsoft Edge, that's as much as I know. Computers aren't my thing.
Pete B
I've got MS Edge on my Win 10 PC - opened it once out of curiosity and it was so clunkily similar to IE that I stuck with Firefox.... I would suggest you try Firefox as a browser - I bet you £1 you won't have the cursor problem... or many others! Pete ps If you do decide to give it a go, download it from the pukka Mozilla site and not from a download site.
Max Z
I have got the same problem with Apple Safari. I am typing this with Firefox for Mac, and it seems to work ok. Max.
jolliffee
Hi I tried this on Chrome running on my Apple MacBook Air and it works but Safari didn't
John Privett
I haven't touched Edge since I upgraded to Windows 10 last July or August. But in the interests of science, I've blown the dust of it and am remembering why I was so underwhelmed by it all those months ago... And yes, hitting Enter returns the cursor to the top of the screen. Good grief, how poor is that? I'm not sure which is more to blame, Microsoft or the forum software. I'd be inclined to split it 50:50! Right, that's the last time I'll use Edge for another year or two. Back to Chrome for me!
Martin Harris - Moderator
Scrub my reference to Edge being OK a few posts ago - like John I tried it a long time ago and dropped it like a hot potato but I'm trying it again in the interests of science and up goes the cursor!
